This page is for discussing the ways in which The Halloween Apocalypse doesn't fit well with other DWU narratives. You can also talk about the plot holes that render its own, internal narrative confusing.

... and so on.
  • "The Lupari are species-bonded with humanity, meaning each human had a Lupar to protect them". So, there are multiple reasons as to how this premise makes absolutely no sense, but I'll start with the biggest and most obvious: how is this the first time we're hearing of this? Why has literally no other human in the history of the DWU had a Lupari show up to intervene in their lives?
Most Doctor Who stories on Earth are so small scale that its not implausible the Lupari didn't hear about them and the bigger invasions take place so quickly that they likely don't have an opportunity to intervene. Furthermore this whole species bond could just be a specific response to the universal threat of the Flux, with more powerful races being assigned less advanced species to rescue.
it is implied that the species bonding has been in place for a while, as Karvanista says that they are bonded with humanity to save them in case of the gravest of emergencies. So not quite Flux specific. Doesn't answer why they've not appeared and helped our prior. Unless it's universe spanning destruction they jump in for, and don't concern themselves with petty one planet problems. Or even a few planets, or they would have intervened in Rankor Av Kalos. They wouldn't have been able to help in other universe spanning dangers before; Stolen Earth they wouldn't have known where to go, Big Bang was a temporal paradox they wouldn't have been able to stop, Wedding of River Song was another time wimey problem.

  • The method of protecting Earth from the Flux was to cover all of the Lupari ships over the entire circumference of the Earth. That's all well and good, but what about the Sun? If the Sun is destroyed by the Flux, Earth is still doomed.
We weren't shown in subsequent episodes that the sun was destroyed, plus the Lupari could be using some sort of technology that simulates the Sun's energy, enabling Earth's atmosphere to function as normal.
We were shown Neptune being destroyed, so some of the solar system is gone, but not the Sun. if they wanted the Sun to be cannonically destroyed they would have shown us.Tectuan said in Survivors that they didn't foresee the Doctor interupting the Flux 'throwing herself and a Tardis in front of it'. It didn't carry on destroying the solar system. It was reintroduced to the universe some time before Survivors.
  • So Swarm has a prison all to himself with regular check ups but Azure has a false life as Anna in the Arctic Circle? The man with her, supposedly her guard, is very unconcerned with the warning beacon and ignores it with her. Maybe this is because of denial or that he has fallen in love with her but this is never stated and left too ambiguous to mean anything. Ultimately it comes across as he's neglecting his duty and risking the universe because he doesn't want to have to deal with the problem.
is it made clear he's her guard? I was under the impression she was living a false life, no knowledge of whi she was or chance or the knowledge coming back unless she met with Swarm; something that was never supposed to happen. They were members of Division and he didn't know her identity, they genuinely were together. Even when Swarm killed him his words to her were 'Don't touch anything!', implying his main concern was her safety, not her identity coming out. He wouldn't have allowed her to destroy the message if he was the guard and in charge, he also wouldn't have bothered to ask her what to do, he would have took charge of the situation and done his duty. No he followed her because he thought she was a normal person not a mad creature of time.
