Theory:SJA television discontinuity and plot holes/Enemy of the Bane

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
You are exploring the Discontinuity Index, a place where any details or rumours about unreleased stories are forbidden.
Please discuss only those whole stories which have already been released, and obey our spoiler policy.

This page is for discussing the ways in which Enemy of the Bane doesn't fit well with other DWU narratives. You can also talk about the plot holes that render its own, internal narrative confusing.

Remember, this is a forum, so civil discussion is encouraged. However, please do not sign your posts. Also, keep all posts about the same continuity error under the same bullet point. You can add a new point by typing:

... and so on.
It may not have had the power at the time - the exploding happened directly after the energy recharge.
  • In Part 2 when the two members of the Bane Kindred explode, Clyde and Luke are covered in left over Bane Slime. As the episode goes on it is no longer seen.
They could have been washed - and do in fact have wet shirts afterward.
  • In The Last Sontaran, Sarah Jane took Kaagh's gun off him and left it in her attic, so in this story how come he had it back?
Kaagh has been back to the wider galaxy since then, he's had any number of opportunities to pick up a new weapon even if he didn't have a spare in his scoutship.
  • When Kaagh stops Mrs Wormwood he falls in the portal too - why didn't he just push her into the portal?
Kaagh wanted to redeem himself; in his eyes, the only way to do this was to sacrifice himself when he defeated Wormwood.
  • In her Bane form Mrs Wormwood's skin seems to have changed colour.
Possible stress related skin change?
  • In Episode 1, The Brigadier notes that people with Level 1 clearance are allowed near the Black Archive yet Major Kilburn who earlier stated having Level 2 clearance is seen at it.
He may not be allowed directly inside the Archive, but just to guard it. Or because he is Bane he may have killed his way in or used fake ID.
  • How is Luke able to release Mrs Wormwood as is revealed in Series 3 that such 'directional' orders can only be taken from Sarah Jane herself?
That may be why Mr Smith cannot take orders from Luke in Series 3, as Luke disobeyed Sarah Jane in this episode.
The 'directional commands' is in reference to K9, not Mr Smith.
  • Why, once Luke has entered the stone circle in part 2, does he continue to do what Mrs Wormwood and Kaagh tell him? Surely now he is inside the portal and they are unable to go in after him, so he would be perfectly safe doing nothing?
Perhaps, Kaagh's gun can still shoot at him through the forcefield. We only know that actual alien lifeforms can't enter, what's to say a bolt of energy couldn't?
And I doubt Luke wants to be in the middle of giant blasts of energy.
  • Why didn't the forcefield stop Mrs. Wormwood and Kaagh from falling into the portal?
The power source powering the portal may have been the same one that had been powering the forcefield before it opened.
