Timex were a brand of influential watchmakers who put a motion before the High Council of Gallifrey to advertise their products in all sorts of Time Lord regalia in exchange for monetary compensation. This offer was reported by the Gallifrey Gazette in the same issue detailing the Doctor's flight from the planet in a stolen timeship. (NOTVALID: TARDIS Stolen!)
