History[[edit] | [edit source]]

1970s[[edit] | [edit source]]

One account indicated UNIT had a facility at the Tower as early as the 1970s. At one point a captured Ogron was brought there, coinciding with the Eighth Doctor and Andy Davidson visiting the base in search of TARDIS components left by the Doctor's exiled younger self. (AUDIO: UNIT Dating)

1990s[[edit] | [edit source]]

By some accounts, this facility was established in the 1990s. (GAME: Defending the Earth: The UNIT Sourcebook [+]Loading...["Defending the Earth: The UNIT Sourcebook (game)"]) One account specified this UNIT HQ relocation to 1999. (AUDIO: The Last Line of Defence)

2000s[[edit] | [edit source]]

During the Sycorax's attack of Earth, Blake was the leader of this base. From the base, Prime Minister Harriet Jones directed the responses of UNIT and Torchwood to the Sycorax invasion of Earth. (TV: The Christmas Invasion [+]Loading...["The Christmas Invasion (TV story)"]) The Third Doctor felt it a more appropriate location for a covert organization rather than the highly conspicuous building outside of London. (PROSE: The Christmas Inversion [+]Loading...["The Christmas Inversion (short story)"])

The headquarters was still used in 2009, although UNIT also maintained mobile bases in lorries. (TV: The Sontaran Stratagem)

2010s[[edit] | [edit source]]

Later, under Kate Stewart's leadership, the Tower was used a base for tests on the Shakri cubes. (TV: The Power of Three [+]Loading...["The Power of Three (TV story)"])

Clara came to UNIT HQ after Missy froze the Earth's planes. (TV: The Magician's Apprentice [+]Loading...["The Magician's Apprentice (TV story)"])

In September 2015, Kate Stewart, Osgood, and Bonnie watched Daniel Claremont's speech on global warming from the Tower of London. (COMIC: Clara Oswald and the School of Death)

2020s[[edit] | [edit source]]

This facility was shutdown with the rest of UNIT in 2020, being replaced as the central UNIT headquarters by the Black Site. (PROSE: The Thirteenth Doctor Sourcebook [+]Loading...["The Thirteenth Doctor Sourcebook (reference book)"])

By some accounts, this facility still functioned as UNIT HQ into the 2020s at the time of UNIT's return. (AUDIO: Recruits [+]Loading...["Recruits (audio story)"], The Ghost of Bannerman Road [+]Loading...["The Ghost of Bannerman Road (audio story)"])
