The Enemy of All Things is an immortal, destructive force that survives through possession of living host bodies and has no other goals except to destroy all life in the universe.

Overview[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Enemy of All Things' has no true physical form. It has abilities that defy the very laws of science. It can change its form to anything it desires. It can also manipulate machinery and even take control of other creatures' minds. It is named the Enemy of All Things because of its aggression and hatred for all living species, taking delight in destroying worlds and civilisations that ever come into contact with it.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Enemy was said to have been 'born' during the Dark Times, devouring planets and slaughtering billions during the Times' early years. It was imprisoned by the Time Lords inside the core of a 'black giant', an artificial star that was said to be inescapable. For billions of years, The Enemy was trapped inside the star, which was named as Yamagel, by the inabiatants of the planet, Shaak Taar, which orbited Yamagel, acting as the Enemy's jailers, should it ever escape.

After the Last Great Time War, the Enemy escaped out of Yamagel because the combined force of the Time Lords' TARDISes were what binded him to the star's core. With most of the Time Lords and TARDISes gone (except one), The Enemy could release itself from its prison. However, the feat was still difficult and the Enemy was severely weakened, depending on living hosts in order to survive. The Enemy first began his symbiotic lifestyle in Shaak Taar, possessing a child that was about to perform the civilisation's ritual of allowing themselves to be fused with the essence of their god. Instead of their god, the Enemy took control of the child. Using the child's physical form, the Enemy escaped Shaak Taar and crash landed on Earth.

The impact of entering Earth's atmosphere had vapourised both the ship and the child's body. So, the Enemy began to possess humans. Because the Enemy believed that it could never become all-powerful again, it began taking its anger out on humanity. Such acts of malice on the human race ranged from orchestrating the actions of the Nazis by possessing the body of Adolf Hitler to the formation of the Ku Klux Klan in the bodies of several Confederate American Civil War veterans.

In recent years, though, the Enemy has attempted to rise to its original power several times. Its attempts include, devouring the radioactive fallout from the Tunguska event in an attempt to convert the radiation into energy, combining himself with the collective negative thoughts of the human race during the Wall Street Crash, and very recentley attempted to drain the energy from the Ghost Shifts created by Torchwood 1. All attempts have been secretly dealt with by UNIT and previously Torchwood 4.

Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]

To see him, you must know that he has no light in his eyes, no smile on his lips, no soul in his voice - no love in his body.

- Extract from Shaak Taar folklore

The Enemy may be one of the most calculating and deceiving of minds in the Universe, but because it has kept its own personality for eons, it cannot hide its true self, even in a host.

The Enemy is generally cold, soft-spoken, callous and sadistic. Its refusal to show extreme amounts of anger externally, create a sinister character to it that secretes through any host, no matter how innocent it appears. This flaw has made it exposed several times to its enemies and caused its failure.
