Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

Re: Images

Sorry but i am just another user like you and don't have anyway of blocking the user or locking the pages i suggest you talk to Tangerineduel I am sure he can do something about it. Sorry again that i couldn't be more help. --Dark Lord Xander 05:09, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi, just responding to your message on Dark Lord Xander's talk page. The changes to the page weren't really vandalism, they're just some different images. I'm against for the most part protecting pages against anonymous edits as that is how we gain new users by having anonymous editors trying out editing on this wiki.

If you don't agree with the anonymous editor's changes you could leave a message on the user's talk page. Also if you believe one message is better over another for the page you could start a discussion on Sixth Doctor page (or which ever page it may be) to get a discussion going on the merits of one image over another. Fifth Doctor infobox

Hey, I'm reverting your change to the infobox at Fifth Doctor. I'm not saying that the picture currently there must remain there "forever and ever, amen". Rather, you've chosen perhaps the one kind of image that should never go in an infobox. file:FiveThin.jpg was specially made to fit in an 85px width navigational box image window. It's really not for use on any page or infobox. It's strictly one of our Category:Maintenance images. In general, it's preferred that infobox images be widescreen, if it's at all possible to crop a picture to a more-or-less 16:9 aspect ratio. If not, we'll take 4:3 images. But really, they should never be more vertical than horizontal.

You will almost certainly find pages where this guideline is not observed, but that doesn't invalidate it.

I have no objections to finding a different image for this infobox, so long as it's in-universe and widescreen, as there is no difficulty to cropping Davison-era episode images to a more-or-less 16:9 aspect ratio.

Christmas cheer

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

User infobox

Hi! Please note that you cannot use the "Individual Infobox" on your user page — it is only used for story characters. That's why it was removed from your user page. Instead, you can use the "User Infobox" for your user page.

Page moves

Block

I'm sorry that I had to block you. But there is little else that can be done after you ignored the warning left by another admin right above this message. I had to clean the leftovers of your move because, as explained in the thread cited by Shambala108, regular users cannot perform moves correctly, as in do not have access to the functions needed to perform moves correctly. In fact, every move requires some non-trivial effort. An ordinary user may not even be aware of the work needed to be put into making the move properly. This is why non-admin users are asked not to move pages themselves. You were asked to refrain from doing this personally by an admin and still did it again. Thus, to prevent further damage to the wiki, it is necessary to block you from editing. I can only repeat: Please do not move pages by yourself. If you have quesions or requests, please ask an admin instead of going it alone.

One more thing: you mark many of your edits, including this move, as minor. This is completely wrong. Minor edits are those that no one would question and are restricted to trivial mistake corrections. Please take note of what is considered a minor edit according to the policy. First off I apologise most sincerely for my moving of the page Wednesday's For Beginners (audio story) to the correct title of Wednesdays For Beginners (audio story). I thought I was doing the wikia a favour but did not take into consideration the effort (non-trivial or otherwise) required to be undertaken by the admin staff in the aftermath of the page's move. Secondly the warning given to me by Shambala108 back in October 2016 was read and taken very seriously at the time but I evidently have forgotten about it in the 8-month interim since.

I want it to be known that I am a Whovian through and through. I love Doctor Who and all of its spin-offs and have much love for this wikia too and have nor have ever had any intention of damaging it in anyway nor have I ever intended to deliberately make things difficult for the admin of this wikia. Evidently I did and for that I apologise. I saw a mistake and wanted to fix it and this was done with nothing but the best of intentions. I'm glad we're on the same page here. And we all forget from time to time. The proper procedure is by putting {{rename}} or {{speedy rename}} template on the page, preferably explaining the reasons on the talk page. The difference between them is again that the speedy version is for clear-cut cases like this one. In case of any doubt or any potential discussion, the former template should be used. Now, I originally planned to put a weekly block, but was not sure whether you check back at wiki every week. To be completely honest with you, I was going to remove the block after the first response because blocking is not a punishment and forgetfulness is not a crime. What gave me pause was the tag line "Confirm Nothing...Deny Everything". If you look at it for the first time and it follows that particular response... it creates funny optics. Well, I guess I was reading too much into it. So, thank you for caring about proper names and for readiness to follow the general (good) practices. The block is now being lifted.
