Re: The Pilot Episode image gallery[[edit source]]

The primary thing is that there weren't actually any screenshots from the Pilot Episode in the gallery. Perhaps the decision could be reconsidered if there were actually a significant number of such images on the Wiki, but there aren't.

Secondly, User:CzechOut's point is that the Episode isn't really a story, valid or otherwise. More of a loose collection of deleted scenes from another story. Scrooge MacDuck 22:54, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Aside from Scrooge's excellent points, there's also the notion that this wasn't a gallery. It was a category, and categories have technical functions within the MediaWiki software that underpins the wiki. That's why our rules about categoristion take precedence over ones about images.
In this case, the category was interfering with the proper operation of something called Semantic MediaWiki, and specifically the job queue that's used to process changes when people try to adjust certain aspects of a category. Here, the problem was that the images within that category were wholly within another category, the one about Unearthy Child images, creating a pretty big bit of recursion. I'd also point you to T:OVER-CAT, where you'll find that, due to the age of the wiki, a missing category is probably "missing" for a reason. This category was created only this month, decades after the pilot episode was released.
There's a reason that we didn't have this category, beyond all the valid technical arguments about recursion. As Scrooge pointed out, this isn't a story, it's essentially a filmed dress rehearsal for only part of one episode. And because the template {{ImageLinkTV}} requires the category name to be appended by TV story images, the category name is a lie, which we try not to do around here.
Hope you understand, but this category can't be brought back. :(
