Hi, first of all, apologies for the confusion. I was doing a massive cleanup of Story notes sections, and leaving the cast/crew message in the edit summaries. For some pages, I also cleaned up the Reference sections, and that's the edit you are questioning. The edit you are questioning has nothing to do with cast/crew notes but rather how we define the Reference section this wiki.
- Each bullet point must contain at least one link to a page on this wiki (it can be a redlink but it can't be a link to wikipedia or other wiki).
- If the item in question is already on the page (for example, character names or place names), or if the item is part of the plot, it does not go in the Reference section.
- References must be clearly stated, not just assumed. Just because a story mentions, say, Frodo, doesn't mean we would also link to Lord of the Rings and Tolkien (unless those are also mentioned).
- Entries in the Reference section must be brief: the goal is for those who are interested in the item to click on the link and visit the page. Therefore we don't give a long explanation but just a mention of how the item fits in the story, and readers can visit the other page for more details. For example, if a story mentions Robert Louis Stevenson by name with no other details about him:
- Incorrect: The Doctor mentions Robert Louis Stevenson, who wrote Treasure Island, Kidnapped and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
- Correct: The Doctor mentions Robert Louis Stevenson.
- References are not cited with links to stories. That is considered continuity and goes in the Continuity section.
