Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
- a list of people whose job it is to help you
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. Skittles the hog ☎ 23:43, November 9, 2014 (UTC)
Edits[[edit source]]
Hi! Your edits at Death in Heaven weren't properly formateds. Please read Tardis:Citation and Tardis:Capital letters so you can see how to format the information. However, there was a more important reason for the reversion. Your edit accidentally removed several categories and foreign language links, and the edit was reverted in order to replace those categories. For some reason, this happens a lot to new users; I don't know if it's a flaw in the Visual Editor or what might be causing it.
In addition, the information you added at The Doctor's Wife about the Corsair is not necessary in the Reference section, because the Corsair is already listed in a previous entry. The Reference sections on story pages are not for large amounts of information; they are for one-sentence descriptions that link to another article that provides more information. If someone wants to know more about the Corsair, they click on the link to his page.
I know this is a lot of information, but we do have a lot of rules and policies on this wiki. Think of it this way, the more you edit, the more you learn the policies. Thanks! Shambala108 ☎ 05:12, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
- Hi! Adding to what I've already explained, your edit from "how" to "House" was correct. However, it was removed during a n editing process called the rollback, wherein all consecutive edits by a user are removed in one step. Your edits removed categories and language links (like I said above, accidentally) and those categories must stay on the page. It's easier to rollback the edits than to hunt through the edit history to find what went wrong. Please be assured that only admins can do this kind of edit, and it is only done when necessary to remove mistakes across several edits or major edits that can't be undone with the usual "undo" feature. Feel free to change the "how" back to "House", but in the future, please preview your edit to make sure you aren't accidentally removing vital information. Thanks! Hi! The reason I reverted your edit was because it accidentally removed all of the categories and inter-language links from the page. When you undo an edit, you have to undo the whole thing. Also, I want to note your citation wasn't formatted properly. Make sure you link both the "TV" and the story name, and italicise the story name. Thanks! P&P talk contribs 23:27, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
