Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

BBC DVD coverss[[edit source]]

Hi, when uploading BBC DVD covers it would be of assistance to select 'BBC DVD covers' from the license drop down menu.

Additionally be aware of the white space around many DVD covers on various sites, as when used on this wiki the white space around the covers can make using them in thumbnails and galleries look somewhat odd.

Also please look around at story pages as several of these already have DVD covers that do not have the white space around them. Thanks --Tangerineduel 06:41, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Title cards[[edit source]]

It would be of huge assistance when you upload screenshots as they are to select the 'screenshot' licence from the drop down menu. This both adds the screenshot licence tag and adds it to the screenshot category. It also means editors don't have to go through each and every image you upload and do it manually. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 16:59, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Hello. It take a some time to manually add the license tags to the images you upload, all of that time could be cut out if you just select, as I requested the 'screenshots' menu item in the licence drop down menu when you upload images. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 15:24, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Delete tags[[edit source]]

Please do not remove delete tags until the issue has been resolved, as on "The Unearthly Child -- Pictures" page. Thank you! Musedae 14:53, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Videos[[edit source]]

Hi, please do not add videos that are in violation of our Tardis:Video policy (in short any videos that are not uploaded by the copyright holder cannot be added), Thanks. --Tangerineduel 17:27, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

Images[[edit source]]

Please do not post promotional or out of universe images on pages. They have no place on articles and will be removed and subsequently deleted. The Thirteenth Doctor 12:05, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

  • And please remember to select sources when uploading images. You've been asked numerous times before. The Thirteenth Doctor 12:07, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

VHS images[[edit source]]

I reverted you edits on the List of BBC VHS releases because solely, there no point in having the images of the main article, if we have a page devoted to the VHS covers. I hope you don't take any offence to this, as it has nothing to do with your ability to edit. (I also removed the images on the List of BBC DVD releases). The link to the article that has the images of the DVD/VHS covers has been placed on the pages. Keep up with the editing and please contact me if your need anything. Thanks. Images[[edit source]]

Hi there, I hate to tell you, but I has to 'rollback' your edits to the Doctor Who title card page. Here's why:

1) The images had a black border/frame visible. This should have been removed before hand.

2) Some images contained network logos or the Doctor Who website address and copyright symbol. These should never, ever appear in any images - please look for images where these are not present.

3) Some of the images did not have the correct licensing, or any licensing at all. You been told before about this.

Thanks. MM/Want to talk? 20:04, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

Christmas cheer[[edit source]]

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
