Helloedit source
Nice find. I think it's a really good idea, so I'll try and get round to it at some point either today or tomorrow. Mini-mitch\talk 11:02, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Images and galleryedit source
Hey, as nice as you image uploads are, we tend to use the rectangular images rather than portraits as the latter are too tall. Additionally, in reference to your "Eye Patch Lady" gallery, please see Talk:Eye Patch Lady#Gallery as it is being challenged. Thanks----Skittles the hog--Talk 11:14, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
When uploading an image, please select a licence from the drop down menu. For Doctor Who and Confidential, you should be selecting BBC screenshot. Not doing so is a breech of Tardis:Image use policy, so could you please go back to your images and add screenshot to them? Thanks----Skittles the hog--Talk 11:38, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Just click edit on the images page and add screenshot Obviously it varies depending on what the image is but that covers all you uploads up to this point. Thanks for helping out.----Skittles the hog--Talk 11:43, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Englishedit source
British, as Who is a British show. If you speak another form of English, I would advise spell checking your work before posting, and make sure the spell check is set to English (UK). If your confident you know the differences, or if you are British, just go for it.----Skittles the hog--Talk 11:50, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm English.----Skittles the hog--Talk 11:52, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Images againedit source
Okay. Say it with me now "rectangular images and licences". Please don't forget.----Skittles the hog--Talk 12:11, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough. If you going to replace and image simply go to its page, scroll down a bit and select "Upload a new version of this file". This replaces it without there being a spare image and you wont need to edit it in.----Skittles the hog--Talk 12:16, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, wikia have major problems with their image servers. I contacted them about this a while ago but they've done nothing. Just upload it normally, WITH A LICENCE:)----Skittles the hog--Talk 12:32, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
LICENCES!!----Skittles the hog--Talk 17:09, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
I've already done it, I just wanted to remind you in a... helpful way. I see you've done it with some images, but not others. Anyway, thanks for improving so many of the images, most were a bit dodgy before.----Skittles the hog--Talk 17:12, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
Main page slideredit source
What dom you mean by a main page slider, and can you give me some other wikis which currently use one? Thanks Mini-mitch\talk 17:24, June 2, 2011 (UTC)
- It actually looks like a really good idea. At the moment, I think it could be used for the lastest television stories, etc. I'm totally behind the idea. What you should do now is raise it in the forums, and see what other Users think. Great idea! Mini-mitch\talk 17:51, June 2, 2011 (UTC)
- As I have said, I do think it should be featured on the main page. However, you do need to raise it here, so you can see what other Users think and can even vastly improve the idea. Mini-mitch\talk 10:06, June 3, 2011 (UTC)
Imagesedit source
It's a technical fault that I to am experiencing. I do not know the cause, nor if it is a widespread problem, but it will automatically rectify when the image stops screwing around. I notice above that you are interested in image sliders, I recall that this was attempted but the specifications of this wiki stopped it working correctly.----Skittles the hog--Talk 17:45, June 2, 2011 (UTC)
Main pageedit source
It's designed that way. Putting the slider on wont work anyway so don't try it as it will essentially be vandalism, albeit unintended.----Skittles the hog--Talk 11:40, June 3, 2011 (UTC)
edit source
Hey, thanks for trying to improve upon file:TenThinner.jpg. What you couldn't have realised was that that image was incredibly carefully cropped. It took hours to find the correct dimensions. In navboxes, it's not just a matter of getting an 80px image. You have to make sure it's not so long that it draws out the individual bits of information on the right-hand columns. TenThinner is crafted so as to eliminate vertical white space between the various sections of information. Your image added over 2 inches to the overall length of the Tennant navbox.
And it's not just a matter of lopping off the bottom and making the height match TenThinner.jpg. The other design ethic is that the faces can't bleed off the edge of the frame; otherwise they look huge. (Hair and hats are okay to bleed off one edge, but when you're cropping off sides of the actual fleshy part of the face, you're zoomed in way too close.)
That might sound like a weird restriction. But there's a good reason. When you open up all eleven navboxes, they all need to be relatively the same apparent focal distance from the viewer. That way, we avoid editorialising with our pictures. Using your image for Ten, it appeared as if we were emphasizing Ten — almost as if we were saying, "Ten is the Doctor; the rest are imposters."
If you'd like to try again — perhaps because you don't like the fact the current pic uses the tuxedo-clad Doctor instead of him in his more traditional suit — be my guest. I assume you still have the same base pic from which yours was cropped. I'd recommend that you pull back slightly on your crop, so that there are at least 10-20 pixels of background framing his face. Then cut it to the same length as the current TenThinner.jpg.
Then, please upload it as a new version of TenThinner.jpg. Don't upload it as a new file. We can then more easily flip back and forth between pics in the revision history.
Put a much simpler way, I've kinda done the hard work for you. We need a picture there that's exactly the dimensions of the current TenThinner.jpg. All you have to do is crop your picture to precisely that size.
Because your picture can't be salvaged for use on this page, I'm deleting it. But I do encourage you to change the pic on DWTV, as long as you follow the instructions above.
czechout<staff /> ☎ ✍ 23:13:43 Fri 03 Jun 2011
- Just to keep ya in the loop — your suggested Ten pic is now on Companions of the Tenth Doctor. It proved a really great pic, once cropped into the right dimensions. Thanks much for suggesting it with your earlier uploads!
czechout<staff /> ☎ ✍ 05:31:48 Tue 14 Jun 2011
- Hey, I've reverted your latest attempt at making TenThinner.jpg into the Fires of Pompeii image. You didn't follow my instructions, above, so I'm gonna have to restrict access to this file. I've noticed, too, that you rather whimsically changed the wikipediainfo file. Therefore, all maintenance images have now been locked. The thing is, when you change image files on widely-used templates, it creates unnecessary server load. Every time they get changed, the server has to update the image on all the pages that have the template. And I've already gone through the period of discovery on these templates. There's no need to change dimensions on any of them. If you want to replace, do so at the exact dimensions that the files currently have. I advised you of that last time, and you didn't do it at either of the two images cited above. Thus since none of these images actually need changing, I'm taking the further step of locking them.
- I don't want to completely discourage your creativity, however. If you'd like to suggest new images, please do so on the relevant file talk page and then alert me to the changes you've made. I'll then assess its technical qualities. Again, I'd point out that you do have a good eye for photos; the picture you found has been placed on one of the three main navboxes that use a picture of Ten. But you seem to be lacking the technical skill of cropping photos to an exact measurement, or of seeing the subtle effect different dimensions can have on a template.
- I should say, as well, that the Pompeii image won't be making it to the DWTV page, as it's best to have different images of the Doctors at different pages, just so we can keep track of which image is on which page. This wasn't my original concept of the navbox images, but it was deemed necessary after your last attempt at altering the DWTV image inadvertently affected the "companions of" navbox. Thus, Ten now has quite adequate coverage in his three main "looks": tux, spacesuit and traditional pinstripes.

- May I ask why you're so determined to get rid of the tux image? It performs the task adequately. While I think it's great you've hit the mark on the dimensions of this newest submission, I don't see it as necessarily "better". Why do you think it's better? I think it's a little too similar to the image you submitted that's now at Companions of the Tenth Doctor. I'd rather have something that gives an "alternate" Ten look, almost certainly one where he's not wearing the standard Ten greatcoat.
- As for locking down templates and other maintenance images, that's not likely to be lifted any time soon. There's just no reason for changing those images. The locking is only coincidental with your attempts to change them, but you weren't the cause. I had meant to do that months ago, when they were created but I didn't understand a certain bot functionality as well as I do now. In other words, you didn't trigger the lockdown, so your understanding of a technical error you made doesn't mean that they'll suddenly be unlocked. As always, though, you do have good "picture sense" and a clear desire to make things better around here. So if you get an idea about an improvement you'd like to make to one of the stub tags, let me know. We just don't want to be playing "musical images" with these things and creating a bunch of unnecessary server load.

Gallery and Imagesedit source
Sorry about you gallery getting deleted, I tried to save it. At least the section was salvaged. Just wanted to remind you about licences. Please add them to all files you upload. Ta----Skittles the hog--Talk 18:38, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

Reverting editsedit source
Sorry to nag, but in future, please remember to justify revisions. Such summaries as "I'm not accepting that image" are not really valid as they don't actually contain a reason. Just something to bear in mind. Thanks----Skittles the hog--Talk 18:05, June 16, 2011 (UTC)
Masters templateedit source
Why do you believe they're not of equal importance?
I would note that they are, they all cover incarnations of the Master that this wiki covers and considers canon as part of our canon policy. --Tangerineduel / talk 16:01, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

Templatesedit source
A few things. The Master template, please leave everything as it is. I have locked editing to the template and reverted all edits to how it originally way until the matter is resolved on the talk page (Talk:The Master).
Also, please leave the template for Romanda as it is, it is her third incarnation, and should be treated in the same size as the other two, just because she is not seen onscreen, does not mean she any less important, which is what it is suggesting.
Thirdly, (and really a sidenote) you maybe thinking "if everything on the template treated the same, what about the Doctor's template". In this case, it is different because they are not incartions of the Doctor (as Romanda and the Master's incartions are), but are related to the Doctor, and are suggested to be very strongly related to another incartion. To be honest, they should have thier own template (Other incarnations of the Doctor).
Lastly, there is a forum discussion about the Almost People and A Good Man Goes to War. It discusses whether or nor the episodes link into each other making it 2x two paters and 1x 4 parter. Personally, it suggests a four parter, and it looks like it would be (as it high unlikely there would be an other adventures in between). You should use this to voice your opinion the episodes. Thanks. Mini-mitch\talk 16:23, June 19, 2011 (UTC)
Botsedit source

Justifyedit source
Once again, I must advise you to correctly justify your edits. On this occasion, I am referring to your edits at Template:Cyberman variants. I justified why the better image should be on there (and it is the better image, you said so yourself), and you reverted it based on "Do they now?" Correct justification is important on this wiki. Thank you for reading.----Skittles the hog--Talk 17:22, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

Categoriesedit source
Please do not separate the Silurian and Sea Devils categories. It was the consensus some time ago that they should be linked. I do not have an exact link to this discussion so this may seem like a weak argument, but if you still want to separate them please propose to do so at the forums.
I deleted the categories you created as I do not think they are needed and they were incorrectly made, with the category linking back upon itself. I have mentioned this to you before so please take extra care. Thanks----Skittles the hog--Talk 14:11, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Edit summaryedit source
As noted in the history for "Silurian", your edit summary: "You never complained and whined about this before", is not relevant to the editing of that article, nor that particular indecision. It could also be seen as a personal attack. I have asked you many, many times to ensure your summaries are relevant to the discussion and not just an unrelated opinion. So for the last time of asking, please justify your edits, especially when reverting.----Skittles the hog--Talk 17:24, July 3, 2011 (UTC)

I would also note that several of these images have already been uploaded on this wiki and can be used on your user page. --Tangerineduel / talk 16:21, July 6, 2011 (UTC)
Ingoring you?edit source
User:CzechOut is clearly not ignoring you, as he has not editing since last month. He is clearly not online, this could be for a number of reasons. Don't take it personally. I have left him a message about another matter, and I am still waiting a reply. I know that he will in time.
Please not that User:CzechOut has taken time out from editing before for personal reason, and we were patient enough to wait for his return. Which you should as well. On no grounds should you contact wikia purely because someone is ignoring you. That not a personal attack. You just need to be patient and remember that you will get a reply from him in the future. Mini-mitch\talk 15:31, July 7, 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry that you feel like I was ignoring you, but as my contribution logs will make clear, i wasn't here from the 27th June to the 8th July — a period which completely encompasses your last several messages to me. I note, however, that you seem to have stopped editing here — judging from the messages below this one — so there seems little point in replying to your queries now. I will say that I regret your decision to stop editing here, and hope that you'll return at a later date.
- Just to give a very brief reply to some of your queries, though, I don't understand why you were asking me to break apart the Cyberman navbox templates. I won't be doing that. I have received no other reports of the odd "edit button" behavior which you illustrated with a screenshot, so I must assume that problem resolved itself. And I do like your latest stab at TenThinner.
- What I like less are the accusations that I'm personally attacking you by not replying in the time frame you would prefer. Should you return, and I hope that you do, please try to remember that this is a hobby for all of us. I'm not being paid to admin around here. I'm pretty good about replying to people — usually quite thoroughly — but I'm not actually obliged to. Considering how much time and effort I put into your talk page in the past, I feel rather disheartened by the kind of bile and petulance you recently put on mine. An apology wouldn't go amiss.

Block: Part Oneedit source
I have reached the decision that you are to be blocked for a week after a decision has been reached on the Silurian talk page. This block is intended to be a "cooling off period" and you will be able to get back to editing immidiately afterwards.
Please note that the reasons that you have been blocked for are "removing content from pages" specifically talk pages and "Suggesting a link applies to another editor, or that another editor needs to visit a certain link, that contains the substance of an attack.". The blocking time for these offenses is usually much longer but I have decided to give you the benefit of the doubt since the majority of your edits have been of good faith.
I hope that when you return to editing after the blocking period you will not breach these rules again and will have read the Tardis: blocking policy and Tardis: No personal attacks pages and will abide by the rules laid out. Thanks. --Revan\Talk 12:41, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
The rules are there to be followed, if I decided to let you off after making a decision then the whole system would be thrown into chaos. As I said earlier, the blocking term I have decided on is extremely lenient as usually the period I would give would be 3 months+, instead of just a week. Please do not be discouraged by the block and see it as a time to cool off from debates with other users and then you can start again fresh. --Revan\Talk 12:47, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
Again, as I told you before, you are to be blocked for removing content from pages as you did in [edit] and [edit]. You continued to remove other user's comments after being warned not to do so by both me and Mini-mitch on the edit summary page, to which you reverted our edits.
The other reason you are to be blocked for is [edit] where it falls under personal attack definition: "Posting a link to an external source that fits the commonly-accepted threshold for a personal attack. Suggesting a link applies to another editor, or that another editor needs to visit a certain link, that contains the substance of an attack."
--Revan\Talk 12:55, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
My decision will stay final, I am trying to stay objective in this matter and have given you a period that is perfectly ample for you to take a break from editing. For breaching two terms of the blocking policy I should be blocking you for a much longer period, but your edits have been in good intentions so far and haven't damaged the wikia in any way so I have been lenient. Please understand that as an admin I must remain objective, keep to the rules and not take sides in this, I have been over all the edits to the talk page and made my decision from the evidence available. --Revan\Talk 13:08, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
Your block has been put in place for a week. In the meantime, please read the Tardis: blocking policy and Tardis: No personal attacks pages so that when you return you have a wider knowledge of the rules of this wiki. Just to note, the last message you left on my talk page could easily be seen as a personal attack, I have chosen to ignore it this time but please ensure that this does not happen again when your block expires. Thanks. --Revan\Talk 13:16, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
Block: Part Twoedit source
I'm sorry, I just read those policies, and I understand them. It's just sometimes I get a bit overdramatic, and I can get angry quite easily. I understand I was wrong. Please can I start editing again on Wednesday? Thank you? Cortion 13:21, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
Personal attack made by Skittles the hogedit source
Skittles the hog, a human who first made contact with this wiki since June 29, 2011, has just made a personal attack on me. He called me hostile. It means unfriendly and antagonistic. That is not me! I am kind and helpful and good and brilliant. I think he means that he's very hostile. But all the same, he is a human. He's only human. But humans shouldn't act like that towards me. Reven, please review this situation and the previous.
- Calling someone hostile is no a personal attack, besides, there is nothing to achieve by calling him hostile back and saying your better than him. Saying your better than him is a personal attack. Mini-mitch\talk 13:32, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
- Yep! And doesn't that scare you to death! Just kidding, but you are wrong, you are so wrong! Cortion 13:34, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE BLOCK OR EDITING ANYMORE!!!!!!!!edit source
Actually I don't really care anymore!!!!!!! I don't really care about this wiki. If you can, disable my user, I am not going to edit on this wiki furthermore!!!!!!!!! Steven Moffatt is a great Dr Who fan, so is Russell T Davies and David Tennant, but they don't edit on a wiki do they? It's just an encyclopedia! Who cares about this wiki! I would love to commit to something! But with my administration! With me as the only person doing it! And I would want other people looking at it except for my family!
THANKS REVANVOLATRELUNDAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST USER IN THE WORLD!!!!!! I THANK YOU FOR BLOCKING ME!!!!! YOU'VE ACTUALLY MADE ME WAKE UP INTO THE REAL WORLD!!!!! WELL DONE, YOU!!!!! WELL DONE YOU!!!!
I WILL NEVER EDIT A WIKI AGAIN!!!!! ALL THANKS TO YOU REVAN!!!!!! ALL THANKS TO YOU!!!!!! I'M SO PROUD YOU DID THIS TO ME!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!

Christmas cheeredit source
As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.
This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!
We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.
2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
