We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

"21st century years"

Hey Elijah! Not sure if you're aware of this, but those categories you're adding to a few TV episodes aren't for stories produced in the 20th or 21st centuries, but are instead for pages like 1978 or 2017, actual pages about years in the 20th/21st centuries. We've already got more specific categories for stories, like Category:stories released in 1978 or Category:Stories released in 2017. If you've got the time, it would be nice if you could undo your recent edits. :) CoT ? 01:36, May 5, 2017 (UTC)

Oh wait, I didn't fully understand what you were doing. Sorry. What I should've said was:

Let me additionally suggest a simple way to avoid such situations in the future. It will inevitably happen that you will run into something that would look wrong to you or something that may be improved. And you may well be right. It requires Titanic effort to Finish all the Big stuff thrown at us by you know Who. However, many people have been working very hard for many years to put things in order here. So you may also be wrong about things being wrong (chaos is a more complex order and all that). So, before going into mass-edit mode, it is always a good idea to do a mass check-up of similar pages and how they are currently organised. Chances are you would be able to figure out the system behind what might seem like error at first. In this case, for instance, I think one look at Category:21st century years would speak more than 2100 words. Happy editing. And don't hesitate to ask if in doubt. Amorkuz ☎ 09:07, May 5, 2017 (UTC)

Creating new pages: please read policies first

Hi again! The benefit of being a new editor is that admins spend a lot of time talking to you. The downside of being a new editor is that admins spend a lot of time talking to you :)

It is understandable that you want to make the maximum impact by adding information not at all present on the wiki yet. It's great that you want to help. And you can---by improving existing pages. But I hope you will understand if I ask you to familiarise yourself with the policies before creating any more pages. As you can see from my deletion notes, the two pages packed violations of 4 different policies:

• sentences should start with capital letters (not only on this wiki by the way);
• links to story sources should have specific format and be working;
• each page must have at least one category;
• in-universe articles must be written in the past tense.

Unfortunately, at 50k+ articles in the wiki, we cannot expect that a bad article is gonna be cleaned up at some point in the future. This future may never come. Meanwhile, a bad article without sources or categories is worse than a red link: other editors would assume it's already done and move to other topics.

It is also a good idea, after you've read the policies and ready to give it another go, to start creating pages by mimicking an existing page for a similar entity. That way you would see the little tricks of the trade and be able to create pages that are genuinely helpful.

Uploading images

Hi, I'm sorry to say but I will be deleting the image of an Emojibot you've uploaded. Now, getting images right is not that easy. There are many rules and policies: see T:IUP and T:GTI. Yes, I know it's a mouthful (eyeful?). Some of these rules are for beautification. Some are technical requirements. And some are legal requirements. The boldface is the important stuff, legally and technically. One of the most important rules is to always provide a proper license for your image. The upload screen actually guides you through the process. Just make sure to read the instructions. There is a dropdown menu for various licenses. The image you've uploaded is, presumably, a screenshot, a BBC screenshot, to be precise. Unfortunately, only you know this for sure. Hence, the policy is to delete images without license without warning, see T:UNLICENSED. Note that if this is an image from promotional materials, deleted scenes, BBC website, etc., it cannot be used for in-universe articles. In this case, please do not reupload the image. If, however, it is a screenshot, please squeeze it a little bit so that it is below 100k, license it, add the category for images from this particular story, Category:Smile TV story images in this case (only without the : at the beginning) and then add it back.
