DW / DW2 templatesedit source

They interesting work, except they don't handle TV stories with (TV story) on the end of them (I noted as such on the template's talk page), but thought I'd better alert you before you go for a major rollout. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 07:41, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

They should.. I'll look into it, thanks for noticing :) —ff 07:43, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
Okay...that's a solution...just not a time saving one so much.

So, that's 72 characters (including spaces) vs 58 characters (including spaces) if someone were to type TV: The End of Time.
Not trying to be critical just, we've got a lot of prefixes and a fair few story titles and it may just be the case that it's easier to type the prefixes and story titles than use the template (and try to explain to people to use this template rather than the conventional method). Thanks. --Tangerineduel 15:06, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, Template:Story link is not meant to be used directly. I've moved the actual code creating the list into a separate template so that new templates, such as Template:TW, can be created easily. The main idea behind those prefix-templates is not necessarily to save characters, but making the appearance more consistent (and make the source code easier to read). For example, if you use the template, there is always a space behind the colon – forgetting that is a common typo. Also, the story title is always italic – that's forgotten regularly, too. If you should decide at some point that there should be a non-breaking space behind the column, you have one place to touch, etc. pp. That said, if you use Template:DW, you're down to 54 characters even with the trick. —ff 15:14, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

There appears to be a problem with the template and two names added. See your user page. It is there. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 11:32, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

I fixed it – it was a simple typo. Though I have to admit I'm not happy with the current code, it's as unreadable as it gets :( —ff 11:56, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
