We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Don't hesitate to ask in case you have questions

Hi, now that I have more time, I would like to establish a better understanding between us. First of all, please don't be discouraged by my deleting or undoing some of your edits. It is great that you are fleshing out the recent Torchwood (and not only) audios. We certainly appreciate editors who show potential of becoming regular and productive contributors. But, as happens with virtually every editor at first (including me), the editing enthusiasm inevitably causes one to cross one or other of our multiple policies. Some of the policies, like Tardis:Spoiler policy cause immediate deletion in most cases (and carry a very real possibility of a ban in case of repeated violations). Images for BF audios is my personal project. I spent a lot of time cleaning them up and bringing them in line with our image policies. Thus, I patrol new uploads to make sure we do not fall back into the old ways when a 1M+ image could sit on the wiki for years, eating everyone's mobile data. I will upload images for Aliens Among Us tonight myself. Hopefully, it would give you an idea of what is expected.

I listened to all eight stories very recently and, thus, can provide you with qualified advice on how to wikify them correctly. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of doubt. To be clear, I am not planning to work on these audios myself: have too many projects already. But I would love to give you a helping hand since you seem to be interested in doing so. Page moves

Hi, please note that per Thread:128198, only admins are permitted to move pages on this site. There are technical reasons for this, but in addition, if a page has a "rename" tag on it, it requires discussion or an admin decision before moving the page. Otherwise we would have chaos. Infobox

Two quick notes. It is not the case that every story has a "main enemy". It is much better to leave it empty than to assign an ambiguous and complex character to be the "baddy". Secondly, featuring field is for characters who are prominent because they appear in other stories, not those that are important within the story itself. Page moves revisited

Hi, you've already been told once that only admins can move pages. When non-admins move pages, there are things that admins have to do as cleanup, so it's easier to prohibit non-admins from moving pages. Shambala108 ☎ 03:26, February 4, 2018 (UTC)

Block

You have been blocked for ignoring two warnings by an admin not to move the pages. As mentioned directly above, moving pages in a way that nothing is broken is a process that requires good knowledge of how the wiki operates and additional privileges ordinary users do not have. For instance, moving a page such as The Doctor (Sympathy for the Devil) requires also moving The Doctor (Sympathy for the Devil) - list of appearances. In addition, your move has created a double redirect because Third Doctor (Sympathy for the Devil) redirects to The Doctor (Sympathy for the Devil), and a non-admin move necessarily creates a link from the old to the new page, The Doctor (Sympathy for the Devil) to The Third Doctor (Unbound). Double redirects are bad for the functioning of the wiki and there is a special page for admin to clear them, Special:DoubleRedirects. This is not even Tardis specific but rather a FANDOM-wide thing. Chances are, this whole thing sounds like mumbo-jumbo to you, and this is fine. Novice users do not have to dive into the bowels of the wiki to learn all the cogs and bolts. You are free to edit at your leisure letting us, Tardis:Administrators, handle the heavy lifting. But in return, you really need to get out of our way.

Further, "(Unbound)" is not an allowed dab term, it goes against our Tardis:Disambiguating other realities policy. Did you notice there is a discussion about renaming on the talk page, Talk:The Doctor (Sympathy for the Devil), that other editors have other ideas about the proper name for the page? You cannot just waltz in and unilaterally rename the page as you think fit. It's against the rules, impolite, counterproductive. Just generally not nice.

As I said before, the admin team is happy to help. But that requires a two-way communication. So far we have been talking at you and received no indication that you pay any attention. This asocial behaviour already earned you a block for disruptive behaviour. Please, reconsider your attitude. OK, now you've been told twice not to move pages and blocked once for ignoring admin instructions. You are now blocked for a month. Two comments about the block.

1. There is a procedure how to behave during a block described here: Help:I'm blocked. Crucially, it describes what you should not do while blocked. Given your stubborn refusal to respond to admin messages and equally stubborn insistence on doing things your way, I would like to impress on you that sock puppetry carries with it an immediate lifetime block on this and all other accounts you might create. There is also no appeal. The stated policy is zero tolerance of sock puppetry. So please do not think that you are smart enough to bypass this block by creating another account. Everybody makes mistakes, especially at the beginning. Most of these mistakes do not matter after a while. Sock puppetry does. So please, for once, follow admin instructions and prevent yourself from being banned forever.
2. Your block allows you to post messages to your own talk page. So if you'd like to give an indication that you understand why you've been blocked and will not repeat the same mistakes, you could. Listen first, edit later

In the future you are to refrain from editing, and especially creating pages, based on stories you haven’t listened to. Your edits adding a category for the music theme used in such stories can qualify as intentional vandalism because this is information you could not have possibly known without listening. You can't change the names of the ones you've already done, only admins can do that. But if/when you upload more images to the wiki, change the name to something that makes sense.

OK, before you upload any more images, you absolutely must read all of our image policies, which you can find at Thread:148148. There's no point in educating you about one rule when you are just going to upload images that violate the next rule. And to request to change a file name, please use {{spelt}}. Nonsensical file names may lead to their deletion. The name should make clear what is in the image, or at least relate to it, with clear English.

RE:textless covers

Sadly, I don't have them, and don't have the time to search for them. However, if you follow the guidelines from Tardis:Guide to images, you should have no problems. The reason (from what I've seen) was that the name of the files you uploaded were gibberish numbers. If you simply rename to "name of the story textless covers" or something like that, they'll probably not be deleted again (if following other guidelines). The fact that an unverified Twitter account of Lee Binding posted them on Twitter does not in any way imply that Stuart Manning or Big Finish Productions gave permission to post these images on FANDOM under CC-BY-SA licence. Do not upload them again.

As for Lee Binding's own work on Time War: Volume One, the copyright situation must be first researched. I will get back to you whether it is okay to upload them. Copyright, again

You do not seem to understand the concept of copyright. You may not repost a link to an arbitrary site in the Internet just because it posted an image, or music, or video that is of interest to you. Or, to be more precise, you can do whatever you like on your personal website, and reap the consequences of your actions. But you may not do it here on FANDOM. After I pointed out that Lee Binding might not have a permission to share images of another artist, you went ahead and posted links to the music themes from the Soundcloud account called "My 2nd Channel" that provides no explanation whatsoever as to its identity or how they came by this music. The oldest track in this account was uploaded 22 hours ago. Whether this account is legitimate or not and whether it has permission to share this music, there is no way to publicly verify this information. And, frankly, it is doubtful you tried verifying this.

Since you lacked the judgment to avoid this Soundcloud account in this completely transparent case, I'm afraid I have to add to the list of things you are to refrain from doing on this wiki until such time that your edits exhibit more maturity and do not require constant oversight. Lucie Miller images

The images were deleted because they did not have a license (and one was larger than 100k). Each image uploaded to the wiki must be attributed to one of the licenses for copyright reasons.

Hey there! I wanted to thank you for coming by and editing here at Tardis. It can be a li'l confusing at first, so I just wanted to make sure you were starting to understand the way we do things around here. Since it appears as though you may have only just started editing at FANDOM at the very end of 2017 — and we on the administrative team didn't catch that — I want to first apologise for not stopping by personally and trying to help.

If I can, I'd like to go over a few points that might quickly bring you up to speed on some best practices around Tardis.

• When someone leaves you a note here on your talk page, answer on their talk page. This triggers a message alert that they can see. If you answer them here, they're less likely to notice. (So if you want to respond to me, do so at User talk:CzechOut.)
• Become familiar with our image policies. We have strict guidelines on images which tend to result in us having a fairly high-quality, fairly searchable library of images. Some of the best pages to read and understand are Tardis:Guide to images, Tardis:Image use policy and Help:Image cheat card.

• When you upload an image, you have an opportunity to change the name of the image. Make sure you change the name into something that's plain English and describes the content of the image. For instance, I see you uploaded file:NewEarth700.jpg. Though plain English, it's an unhelpful title because it doesn't tell us much about the contents. A better title might have been something like Devon Pryce.jpg, since that's the person whose face dominates the image.

To change the upload name of the file, change what's in the first field. Also, make sure you categorise the image in the second field. And then choose an appropriate license from the drop-down menu in the third field

• When an admin leaves you a note, please respond to it. That way, we know you've read it and are trying to learn. If you fail to respond, an admin may take that as you ignoring them — something for which they might block you.
• If you're doing something, and you get this feeling in the pit of your stomach that you may be doing the wrong thing, always reach out to an admin and ask first.

Re: Unbound Doctor and Valeyard pictures

In principle, as an exception, I could do it. The ultimate goal would, of course, be to teach you to do it yourself. But before discussing that, I'm sure you can guess my question. What is the source of these pictures. There are two basic concerns I always have when I see pictures etc. in the web. (1) Is it the authentic picture? Or was it modified by a fan in any way? (2) Is this picture authorised for public release by its creators/copyright holders?

Don't get me wrong: it might well be that your pictures have no such problems. But I'm not gonna be guessing. Instead I'll explain what might be problematic and let you tell me if something is.

We have several users who are quite adept with image-processing software. For instance, I know of one user who is making their own versions of DVD covers by combining other images. Needless to say, they do not do it here on the wiki. But they are reasonably good, sufficiently good to have been credited for a cover of something that was actually published. While I certainly can appreciate the creativity and mastery, those are fan works. They typically reuse images of actors, which in principle requires permissions. Not going too deep into the legal matters, suffice it to say that fan fiction is generally not allowed on the wiki (T:NO FANFIC). By extension, no fan-made images or fan-modified images. A simple example: if a fan takes a CD cover and removes all text from it, without an authorisation of the creators, we cannot post this image. Why? Because the original cover bears the name of the production company, whereas the textless version does not. The latter image can be easily reused by third parties. In fact, given that everything posted here is under the CC-BY-SA license, by posting such an image we would be granting permission for others to reuse the image, quite contrary to the wishes of the rightholders. This is, of course, different from the situation when the producer released textless covers themselves. Note also that images posted on the wiki must not be of too high a quality for essentially the same reason. They are here for information purposes only, and should not be suitable for reuse, especially for commercial purposes. Thus, my question is: where did these images come from?

But even when the image originates directly from the producing company, we must still be sure that it was intended for public release, that it was not part of their internal production process. The most obvious such examples are scripts hacked and then leaked online. We should not even mention them as that would be a disservice to fans. But there are other, less sinister potential ways how such pictures could appear. It could be from a friend of the artist, a guided tour, a master class. Point is: the image could be shown privately, without the intention of it being distributed online. This is the origin of my question whether the image was authorised for release, whether it could be obtained by anyone or was shown in a private capacity. Amorkuz ☎ 22:48, March 22, 2018 (UTC)

I couldn't find any info on the owner either. I don't even know if it's a he, a she, or non-binary. Thus, they could have created this art themselves, without asking the actor's permissions, right? There is no way for us to exclude that possibility? And what if Michael Jayston does not approve of pictures where his eyes are red? (By the way, his first name is misspelled on that website, which does not increase the chances of it being officially licensed.) I still do not know where the images come from. The fact that bing search finds them is neither here nor there. Not a single site hosting these images is associated with anyone in Big Finish production team. I own this story and do not have this image. If the images are part of the CD cover, they can be uploaded. But in that case they should be uploaded by a person who owns the CD and can vouch for the images. I cannot do that. All the information you provided got me no closer to the origins. It could be a legit image produced by Big Finish. It could be a bootleg edition distributed by pirates. It could be a fan-made image. It could be an image created by an artist as part of a job interview for Big Finish from their materials, which is not authorised for distribution. There are many other options. And there is simply no point in guessing. It does not necessarily have to be you or me who uploads this image. We just need to wait for someone who owns the CD to do it.

The whole point of the wiki is that it is a collaborative effort. One person cannot have information about everything but collectively we do. And those who own the story and have listened to it are best placed to edit on it. Think of it this way: you probably have some exclusive information from a story you recently experienced or some rare reference book only a handful of people have. Or you studied a story so carefully that you've understood something no one noticed. That would be your best, most valuable contribution. I do not know why these images exist in this form. You do not know either. You want to believe they are not fake. That's alright. Many editors want to believe the Doctor is not half-human, despite Doctor Who. They are free in their head canon but are not allowed to edit pages according to it. You are similarly free to post these images on your personal webpage if you really need them. But until you know where these images come from, beyond any doubt, based on evidence rather than on feelings, you are not allowed to upload them. (By the way, that applies to absolutely all edits: if you only hope it's true but are not sure, do not edit it in.) Frankly, for this wiki, these images are a low priority: they do not provide any new or useful information. The stories are audio, meaning images are not expected for them. Cover images are already present. The characters in question are present on those images. Uploading these images would not make much of a difference, as much as you are invested in them. However, if you really feel so strongly about these images, there is a simple solution: buy the CDs, scan the actual CD booklets, and upload the scans. Amorkuz ☎ 22:40, March 23, 2018 (UTC)

I think we have discussed everything there was about this matter. This wiki has its own policies arrived at by the community over the past 14 years via multiple discussions. Neither your personal opinion, nor videos posted on YouTube by unknown individuals, nor other unaffiliated wikis have any effect on this. On this wiki, copyright is respected and quality control is ensured by multiple eyeballs checking and double-checking new edits. Tardis:Administrators make sure that the policies are followed. As a personal advice, in this age of fake news, when almost anybody can edit somebody's face onto any video and make their lips sync to any text, I would strongly recommend you to refrain from using unverified sources for any purposes. Whatever you choose, it is a policy of this wiki not to trust even reputable sources such as IMDb because they can be edited by anyone (see T:RW SOURCES). We are certainly not going to accept anonymous sources. I repeat that you are free to buy the official Big Finish CDs and upload official scanned images from this primary source. PPS Not surprisingly, the fact that you do not have access to the primary source also means that your images were of insufficient quality to pass the wiki's standards. Images and blocked

You've been blocked for three days. You've been told repeatedly to read our image policies, but obviously you haven't done so, since you are still violating some of the same policies that you've been warned about above this post. In addition, I also told you to check the reasons for deletion of an image before just re-uploading it with the same problems. You did not do so, uploading the same images with the same problems within an hour after the first ones were deleted.

You now have three days free from editing so you can read through our image policies. You can find them at thread:148148. Please understand that the admins have lots of other duties and can't keep explaining and cleaning up after each individual user who doesn't want to read/follow the rules. I am sorry to interject, but I'm afraid I have to defend the user as far as license goes. As much as I agree that the images had to be removed (they were narrower than 420px), I think it is important to note that the user tried to comply at least with the license policy. It was not done during the upload process, which would have been preferable, but it was done within 2 minutes of the upload, according to the "Deleted user contributions" log.

Having said that, as Shambala108 mentioned several times before, the image policy imposes several requirements, which all should be fulfilled. So far in every image upload, several were violated. And I have to agree that the last 3-day block intended for the user to finally learn these policies did not have the desired effect. Amorkuz ☎ 15:47, March 30, 2018 (UTC)

Final permanent block for sock puppetry

It is always sad when no matter what the admin team does, the user insists that rules do not apply to them and thinks they can get away with breaking them. I warned you a long time ago that you should not, under any circumstances, try to circumvent a block by creating another username. Almost any other block ends eventually. After you created User:KandymanCan while being blocked, your block is converted to a lifetime block without a possibility of appeal. The block is extended to both of your identities.
