Non canon[[edit source]]

Why did you replace the nc tag with a load of code? The Thirteenth Doctor 21:07, October 14, 2010 (UTC)

Protection[[edit source]]

Because over time wikis develop new policies to help it run better. A discussion was held here where it was agreed that it was better a basic page be created then fully protected to prevent editing. --The Thirteenth Doctor 19:00, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Tag[[edit source]]

I'm not sure what you mean. Also, please make sure it's my actual talk page you post on and not one of the archived pages. Thanks. The Thirteenth Doctor 21:15, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Feature articles[[edit source]]

In the case of older stories where DVDs not being announced the section that deals with 'home video releases' etc should still have information on the video release (on VHS, or for some of the stories betamax and Laserdisc) So for instance The Ice Warriors or The Dæmons could both be put up for feature article because they've both got information in the home video release sections, but neither have been released on DVD. In the case of newer stories, anything from Series 5 backwards shouldn't have any reason not to have DVD information on their pages. However, obviously some newer stories don't have any information like that or may never have any information (such as production errors where there might not be any). I'll make a small amendment to the policy regard this. --Tangerineduel 14:08, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion[[edit source]]

If you are unhappy about the page policy, why don't you starts a policy in the forums and have a serious discussion about it; instead of just shouting on a talk page? It will make your views been seen by everyone, and you may find that other User may agree with you and you can talk and ask to get other User opinions on the matter as well. A Christmas Carol talk page[[edit source]]

It's been moved, to clear the page in prep for the broadcast and to move what was mostly complaints/discussion concerning the policy rather than concerning the page specifically. You an still find it by going to the current talk page and clicking the 1 in the Archive box on the side. --Tangerineduel 14:09, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

DWA on the main page[[edit source]]

All the templates that make up the main page are only semi-protected, so all logged in users can edit them. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:16, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

The link you followed was Template:Doctor Who Wiki/Comics? From the main page it links straight into the edit box. I've changed the image to the most recent comic and image of the cover related to that image. I've double checked the template and it's definitely only semi-protected, but I'll check through everything else just to see if there's anything else causing conflict. A user used the Comics template 12 days ago and nothing's changed since then (I'm fairly sure anyways). But I'll check again. Thanks. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:55, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

Series boxes[[edit source]]

I didn't ask for the change, and I'm not aware of any other admins requesting the change. A reason may be in the edit summaries of the edited pages. If it's a change you think should be discussed with community involvement, please start a discussion in the Forums. Thanks for contacting me. --Tangerineduel / talk 15:55, January 9, 2011 (UTC)

Main page[[edit source]]

The discussion concerning the main page is in part continuing on Forum:New logo or Wordmark. I had a look at the French Doctor Who Wiki and their background is nice, but it ties in with their lighter coloured logo. The logo we're using is linking in with a bolder blue. This isn't to say that the background of the wiki can't be an image like the French DW Wiki is, just that it needs to tie in with everything.

As far as the Phineas and Feb wiki goes, their recent box on the front works as they've only got 4 things to cycle through and all the images are of a uniform shape. We've got quite a few more recent releases with for the most part 2 different sizes in image. With it as it is new readers can explore the whole main page quite simply (it's also relatively simple to edit and see the changes). There's also the stuff on the side of the main page like the feature article, quote of the week and news section that needs to be considered when playing around with elements of the main page. I'm just really not sure if it'd the best way to communicate the vast amount of recent releases we've got on the main page. Thanks. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:43, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Josh. I noticed your discussion at TD's user page, as I added a note right underneath yours. Great minds seem to think a lot, because I , too, am attracted to the P&F wiki design, and I made a slider thingie for us, too. But, in testing it, all the limitations TD laid out, above, rang true. The DWU just can't be encapsulated in four pictures, which is the technical limit on these slider things.
Please do keep on the lookout for other wikia designs that you like, because that was a really good suggestion. Also, please participate in the forum page TD talked about, above. :)   16:38, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Spring clean[[edit source]]

The delete, blocking and vandalism policies were for the most part discussed prior to creation in the forums and/or based on other wiki's/Wikipedia's rules.

The main page has dozens of inter-linked elements changing things need to be tested in a real world environment and to get feedback on it, in the long run these small changes are very minor.

I'm not sure what you're suggesting with regards to "updating pages", that is generally the only main thing that is done on a wiki, updating and creating pages. There is also the Tardis:To Do List, the first link under the "Getting involved" heading on the Tardis:Help page which has handy links to all the pages where people can help out and fix things.

Pictures can be uploaded by any logged in user and used on any page as long as they conform to the MoS, and image use and other policies.

I'm also not sure what you mean by the "discrimination boxes", could you provide a link? --Tangerineduel / talk 14:55, January 24, 2011 (UTC)

I'm fairly sure I removed the Merge templates from the Proms pages in December.
Template boxes do tend to mess with page layouts on several pages, is there anything at issue with just the wording and link that is on the pages at present? We could, I suppose create a template which mimics the wording so as to standardise how the disambig notice appears. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:04, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

New layout[[edit source]]

See Forum:New style sheet for information behind the changes. Ever since Wikia's implementation of their new skin we've had some issues with layout and design. You can have a look at Tardis Test Wiki which is a testing ground for a lot of the things we're implementing. The background as noted on the forum is temporary. Thanks for contacting me. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:20, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

List of Dalek appearances[[edit source]]

I couldn't say specifically. Certain pages are updated at various rates. I've added it to the page. Should you find errors like this on other pages, you can add it to the page. In cases of vagueness like The Beast Below example it's best to follow the examples on the page, where the appearances are a little vague they're stated in brackets. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:52, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

Christmas cheer[[edit source]]

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
