From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Welcome to the Tardis:About MrSiriusBlack

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. -- CzechOut (Talk) 21:08, 2013 January 12

The[[edit source]]

Hi there :) Please remember that the word the should never be capitalised unless it is at the beginning of a new sentence. This applies for the Doctor as well. This is one a of the policies of this wiki, please follow it. Many thanks. MM/Want to talk? 00:14, January 29, 2013 (UTC)

Talk:Tenth Doctor[[edit source]]

I stopped in there and had a look earlier in the week. Everyone has pretty much said what needs to be said, I was going to cite the forums Shambala108 cited and CzechOut has represented the points I would have. I have added my support to theirs. I have also locked the article for 3 weeks while the discussion continues. Thanks for messaging me. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:10, January 29, 2013 (UTC)

Wiki[s name[[edit source]]

It was changed as the result of a long discussion which you can read here. --Tangerineduel / talk 12:50, February 12, 2013 (UTC)

Wiki problems[[edit source]]

Any problems that seem aligned to the underlying structure of the wiki, quirks of its function and the like I would suggest waiting 24 hours before worrying about. The Wikia goes through periodic hiccups where things go awry on occasion, they often rectify themselves with a little time. --Tangerineduel / talk 16:47, April 7, 2013 (UTC)

Is this problem affecting you on other wikis you edit on? --Tangerineduel / talk 14:00, April 9, 2013 (UTC)
Then, as it's affecting you on multiple wikis it's probably not a problem with this wiki. I suggest you use the Special:Contact/general form and contact Wikia and they should be able to help you. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:48, April 9, 2013 (UTC)
It's not a problem. It's what always happens when Britain switches to BST. Please read thread:127566 for an explanation of what's going on and clues of how you can fix it.

Floor 500[[edit source]]

Hi! Regarding your recent edit to Floor 500...If you just put [[Category:Floor 500]] on the page, it will put the page in that category. If you want to show the category name, just put a colon : in front of the word category, like this [[:Category:Floor 500]]. Thanks! Shambala108 17:34, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

Inappropriate fourm post[[edit source]]

Please note that our forums are exclusively about editing or promoting this wiki. Your recent post about the Waterloo Road wiki has therefore been deleted, as allowed by T:FORUM. Please don't post to the forums in this manner again. Thanks. :)

Edit removed[[edit source]]

I removed your recent edit to Talk:Tenth Doctor as irrelevant to the discussion. It is not your job to decide or even discuss whether someone else's post violates Tardis:No personal attacks. This particular post has already generated some questionable behavior; we don't need editors commenting on each other's tones.

You may not have seen an offensive tone to the poster's edit, but as an admin I have to look at it from the perspective of a new editor who might happen on the topic and find his tone insulting. The "no personal attack" policy specifically warns against the type of thing he posted. Thanks! Shambala108 20:51, June 23, 2013 (UTC)

The Master the Doctor's brother[[edit source]]

No, it shouldn't be included.

Check out Doctor Who: Regeneration and The Nth Doctor both of which mention the Leekley Bible which was a series bible for a possible new Doctor Who TV series. If you can find both Regeneration and The Nth Doctor they're well worth a read. Regeneration is worth it for its glossy pictures and great detail about the Leekley bible and other things leading up to the TVM and Nth Doctor is worth it for the detailed breakdowns of scripts that might have been. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:02, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

Christmas cheer[[edit source]]

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

Eleven picture[[edit source]]

Since you've looked at the policy, read the section titled "tight focus". In addition, your image had no license so it's been deleted. If you upload it again, make sure to include a license.

It's common practice on this wiki to use the talk page first if you want to change the infobox image of a popular page. If you think your image is better, bring it to Talk:Eleventh Doctor first. Shambala108 23:41, March 2, 2014 (UTC)

Understanding T:DISCUSS[[edit source]]

Howdy :) Thanks for your edits to Talk:Cass (The Night of the Doctor). If you're just searching T:DISCUSS with the "find" feature of your browser, it's likely true that you will not find the word "speculate". You may therefore feel that speculation on the talk page is okay. That's not the case. The guideline simply words things in a different way. What it says is that discussing the quality of the narrative is disallowed. The edits that you restored quite clearly speak of qualities the narrative has. To reduce confusion, we may specifically include the words "do not speculate" at a later date, but it's not necessary o convey the meaning that would disallow the edits you've restored.

The larger point is that talk pages are for figuring out how to edit the article, not discussion of the narrative points of an episode, which is otherwise known as "offering an opinion" or "speculation". Now, granted, it is a fine line. Sometimes you need to understand what happened in an episode in order to know how to edit the page. But I feel that Shambala108 took the appropriate course of action in this case. The original question on the page had been answered, and those edits that she removed really weren't aimed at discussing the episode's content in order to edit the page better. They seemed to me, and other users like Tybort, to be just free-ranging speculation.

Please understand that the reversion of your edits does not mean that you are unwelcome here. We need you! But it's important that talk pages be, inasmuch as we can make them, dedicated to editing the page to which they're attached.

Block[[edit source]]

You have been blocked for one month for violating Tardis:No personal attacks at Thread:154017. Your statement in that post, "I don't mean to be rude or to violate our personal attacks policy", shows that you are aware of the policy and chose to violate it anyway. Shambala108 13:21, April 9, 2014 (UTC)

Howdy :) As is your right under help:I'm blocked, you've put forward a request for another admin to look at your current block. In fact, you're under two blocks at the moment: one for this registered account and one for your IP address.
Let me take the second one first. The permanent block on your IP address will not be lifted for reasons I can't actually divulge — other than to say that it makes sense for the broader security of this wiki. That's an unsatisfying answer — but it's also an end to it. It is not our normal practice, but you are simply going to have to wait until the block on this registered account is lifted.
As for that second block, I see no cause for lifting the ban. Individual Tardis admin are entirely free to set their own punishment time frames with respect to T:ATTACKS; please see Tardis:Blocking policy#Block length guidelines. Having read your attempted comment on Shambala108's page, I'm inclined to say that you were rather intemperate and therefore didn't follow the spirit of Help:I'm blocked. It seems to me that you believe that the blocking was fully unjustified, and I don't share that view. The comment for which you blocked wasn't profane, but that's not what T:ATTACKS is about. T:ATTACKS is there for ensure civility. And telling someone to shut up isn't civil. In future, you should likely just let conversations happen. If people get off track, just let admin nudge them back in line — or even delete the posts that are off point.
Another thing to consider about why your block length is a month: that particular thread is generating a lot of "newbie" traffic. Most of those people have never been seen on Tardis before. The last thing we want is for some of our longer-serving members to tell the first-timers to "shut up". We're hoping to make our user base grow with such entry-level, and Wikia-supported, posts — not push people away.
None of this is to say that you are less than valued around here. After your month is up, you'll certainly be welcomed back and your contributions will be most gratefully accepted.

Permaban®[[edit source]]

I am sorry that you felt you couldn't wait for the natural expiry of your ban. Had you done that, you honestly would have been welcomed back with open arms. Instead, you have taken actions which make it impossible for us to allow you to ever come back. With a reasonable degree of certainty, it is now possible to assert your sock puppetry and rather blatant attempt at identity theft.

Goodbye, sock puppeteer

You got around your current block by creating and using a second account. That's contrary to T:SOCK. But you also tried to spoof an admin. By creating Freethinker2of2, you meant to trick me into believing you were Freethinker1of1, and therefore to get bureaucrat rights on this wiki. That's a violation of T:MISLEAD USER. Worse, and pardon my language here, it's just not cricket.

To borrow the language of Yoda: Tardis Blue check mark.png Done: You are.
