Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

naming policyedit source

Hi, sorry for barging in. But I've noticed that you've engaged in a minor edit war with more experienced users who were following the policy you might not be aware of. It also seems that, like me, you managed to bypass the automatic greeting of the system that provides links to most important policies. So let me explain why your edits have been reverted time after time. The relevant policy is T:ONE NAME, which explains that characters whose names are not unique are disambiguated by the name of the first story they appeared in. Amorkuz 14:51, December 31, 2016 (UTC)

Re: Upper Canada Villageedit source

Hi, it's a good thing you defer to my "longer experience in this wiki" because we have different rules from Wikipedia. First of all, we prefer original material, so even if copying from Wikipedia is legal, we prefer not to do it (Tardis:Plagiarism explains our policy). Second, "reference" sections on this wiki's story pages must link to pages on this wiki, even if they are redlinks for now; eventually those pages will be created on this wiki. Thanks, Shambala108 01:26, October 15, 2018 (UTC)

I find it highly unlikely that this wiki would ever create an article about Upper Canada Village, unless it miraculously becomes a central plot point in some story arc. However - whatever. PKT 01:38, October 15, 2018 (UTC)
See the third point in Tardis:We're Wikipedia's evil twin. Shambala108 02:12, October 15, 2018 (UTC)
Not bothering. When an article/episode refers to a fairly obscure real-world subject like Upper Canada Village, why "prefer original material" when there's already-created material available? This is supposed to be a wiki. Bah - I'll try to stick to correcting typos. PKT 02:21, October 15, 2018 (UTC)
The answer is simple - we want people to stay on this wiki, not go somewhere else. So we create pages for any/every thing that is seen/mentioned in stories. For real world items, we do have the Wikipediainfo link for readers who want more information, but the main goal is to keep people here, on this wiki. Shambala108 03:24, October 15, 2018 (UTC)
The "answer" as you call it, is truly weird.....PKT 23:31, November 1, 2018 (UTC)
