Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask an admin.

Registered useredit source

Hi, you are already a registered user, an unregistered user is someone who is does not have a user name or is not logged in, their IP address is used to identify their edits making them an 'unregistered user'.

You do not need to be an admin to contribute to this wiki, several users on this wiki have contributed vastly without being admins.

To return to the subject of becoming an admin, to be a good editor users need an edit history that showcases their editing ability, their knowledge of the wiki, their knowledge of both in and out of universe articles, also interacting with the users of the wiki through article talk pages, the Forum and other user's talk pages to communicate with them. But as I said you don't need to be an admin to do any of these things, you don't need to be an admin to contribute greatly to this wiki. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 13:11, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

The Pandoricaedit source

Hi, please do not make articles prior to their date of release. I have placed this for deletion due to the little amount of information known. Thanks, User:Solar Dragon/Signature 18:54, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

Questionsedit source

 1. The Mars article makes it fairly clear, the Martians (Ice Warriors) are native to Mars, the Osirans visited.
 2. The Anti-Wiki Alliance, see here for more information is an alliance of wikis that oppose the new skin that Wikia is pushing out. I don't think it's that bad. It's a change from Monaco though, just as Monaco was a change from Monobook.
 3. You'd have to ask SolarDragon, but he was quite vocal concerning the implemtation of the new Wikia skin, and is an admin of other wikis that have moved away from wikia, so I would hazard a guess his attentions are focused elsewhere.
 4. If you've found an article you think needs deleting/is vandalism place reason for deletion (replacing 'reason for deletion' with your reason), adding this tag adds the Template:Proposed deletion tag to the article and places the article in the prop delete category so admins can review it. In a more general sense you need to be an admin to be able to delete pages. --Tangerineduel 14:21, October 19, 2010 (UTC)
I can't answer the question for you. I think it's the Ice Warrios, but it's been a while since I read the Mars, Ice Warrior and Osiran pages.
Okay, skins or the look of wikis (and Wikipedia) come in three looks (you can change the skin by going to Preferences, Skins and then selecting them. Monaco is probably how you're seeing this wiki at the moment (though the defaults are soon to change to the new skin), that is with a blue header with "Edit, History, Follow, Share Article" across the left hand side and "Article, Discussion" on the right, with the Square shaped logo in the left hand corner and the menu bar on the left.
Monobook is what Wikipedia looks like (or used to look like, they've recently implemented a bit of a change).
The new Wikia skin is the new one you can go here to explore more. Wikia are rolling out the new skin to everyone this Wednesday, so you may or may not see it. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 12:29, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

Picturesedit source

For in-universe pages (e.g. Lovecraft who has actually appeared in some form within the DWUniverse) pictures can only be added if they are from a Doctor Who story (TV episode, CD, comic etc.). Pages such as Russel T. Davies can, as far as i know include any picture of him you like (accept naked etc. :P).

Hope that helps. --Revanvolatrelundar 15:34, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

You stated it yourself. Unrelated images should go.----Skittles the hog--Talk 17:04, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Fine, I'm stating it. Deleted as it was unrelated to the DWU.----Skittles the hog--Talk 17:15, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Picturesedit source

I'm not sure what picture you are referring to, but if it is on Skittles' user page then it is ok, but on an in-universe article then no. --Revan\Talk 18:28, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

It was placed on a talk page. It had no relevance to who at all.----Skittles the hog--Talk 18:40, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Imagesedit source

With regards to tone left on talk pages and indeed all edits made assume good faith.

Looking at the image you've uploaded it could only ever be tagged as a user image (remembering that as a user image it's bound by our Tardis:User image policy, and therefore you may only upload 3 user images and only be used on your user page or for a signature). Any images uploaded to this wiki need to have a tangible link to the DW universe (or behind the scenes stuff) etc.

Looking to the talk page you've posted it to, I don't think there's any need for the image to have been uploaded to this wiki at all, the point could have been made far more simply by simply linking to the image elsewhere on the internet. --Tangerineduel / talk 12:24, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

To link to anything outside of the wikia structure use single square brackets around the web address, produces this: [1], to have text appear for the external link ad a space and then whatever you want the link to say like this: Link to Google which gives you: Link to Google. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:06, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

Quotationsedit source

I disagree with regards to a dedicated quote page, see Tardis:Manual of Style#Quotations for more information. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:58, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Replyedit source

Yes, we can put it behind us. Feel free to delete this message and all regarding to it on your talk page, but leave the evidence on the Talk:Vashta Nerada page. Thanks----Skittles the hog--Talk 12:24, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

If we deleted evidence of every discussion, we would have nothing to refer back to.----Skittles the hog--Talk 12:28, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
