Episodes names[[edit source]]

Please leave the name of the an episode in italics if it appears in a set of brackets. e.g (episode name)This is part of the manual of style. Mini-mitch 14:12, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry. I though it was supposed to appear not in italics and within the final sentence. I won't do it again.Sontar8 15:14, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Wikification[[edit source]]

Hi, not everything needs to be wikified. On DWM Issue 425 "The DWM Review" is the name of an article within the magazine. DWM is the prefix used on this wiki for comics and short stories. See Tardis:Manual of Style and the Tardis:Help pages for more information. --Tangerineduel 15:35, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry. I was just trying to help. Sontar8 15:38, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

That's fine, just be sure to look around at other articles to get an idea of how things work on this wiki. Just one further note, be very careful wikifying things in real world articles such as actors as a majority of our articles dealing with things that can be wikified such as Television or voice link to in-universe articles. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 15:44, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Avatar[[edit source]]

Hi, I'm looking for some help on getting an avatar uploaded. I've got one ready to use but I don't know how to get it on my profile. Any ideas? Sontar8 15:44, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Mouse over the blank image in the top left and it should have a link that says "Change avatar" you'll be taken to your preferences page, which can also be reached by mouse overing your name in the top right and clicking "Preferences". Scroll down and you should be able to change your avatar from there. --Tangerineduel 15:47, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Sontar8 15:57, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Other things to note[[edit source]]

to be added is written like this to keep things consistent and as a notice, it's meant to be lower case.

Do not remove parts of an infobox, just because they can't be filled in at the moment doesn't mean they won't.

As is stated in the Manual of Style "story first broadcast" is not a complete sentence.

I really encourage you to look around and read the wiki before making changes so you can get an understanding of how pages are constructed on this wiki. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 16:05, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Again, I'm sorry. However I've been reading the Wiki for several months now even though I didn't have an account and most of the things I've seen are written as I'm doing them. I'll try to do them the way you suggest from now on though. Sontar8 16:07, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Look through the Tardis:Help pages read the Tardis:Manual of Style. Also (another note), don't copy the web address to make links, on wikis all you need to do is put double square brackets around something to make a link. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 16:13, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
I don't copy addressess to make links. Also, I'm sure the correct way is:
DW: Terror of the Zygons was first broadcast.
not, Episode 1 of DW: Terror of the Zygons was first braodcast.
Sontar8 16:17, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
To present information and make it readable, the way I wrote it is easier to read. Also after Invasion of the Dinosaurs the story segments were called 'Parts' rather than 'Episodes' in the title sequence.
Also when listing several stories in a row that are all TV the prefix only needs to go in front of the first story, the rest if separated by a comma don't need the DW because you're listing them one after the other.
As for copying links see edit comparison yours is on the left which shows a copied address rather than a wiki link. --Tangerineduel 16:33, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Layout[[edit source]]

Has you recent activity bar mysteriously been moved to the left? Just wondering if it's just me. Thanks --Skittles the hog 09:52, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

No, mine's still on the right. Sorry. Sontar8 09:56, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks anyway. I can't figure out what happened.--Skittles the hog 10:00, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

Real world articles[[edit source]]

Hi, not all real world articles need the (for instance) AUDIO prefix in front of the stories, the Andrew Stirling-Brown, through the article it already indicates the stories are part of Big Finish's Doctor Who range, adding the prefixes interrupts the readability of the sentences. The prefixes are most important when citing stories as the source, but sometimes in the real world articles they are talking about the stories and it's the sentence that gives it context and definition. --Tangerineduel 12:32, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

Okay. Sontar8 11:28, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Graske[[edit source]]

I didn't. If I did it was a mistake; I was re-sizing it.--Skittles the hog 19:48, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Ok. I'll put it back then. Sontar8 16:17, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

?[[edit source]]

What are you talking about? I merely put Kate Freetwood up for deletion.--Skittles the hog 19:08, December 7, 2010 (UTC)

Oh. I thought I did. Never mind. It's all sorted I see. Sontar8 19:09, December 7, 2010 (UTC)

Remember to reply to people on their talk pages, not your own. Thanks--Skittles the hog 19:17, December 7, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your copyedits[[edit source]]

Just skimming through your edits. You have a lot of really solid, indisputable copyedits and wikifications. We haven't seen you around for a while, but I, for one, would love it if you could come back and lend a hand. You do great work, as far as I can see :)

Christmas cheer[[edit source]]

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
