User talk:The Doctor - 904
Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask an admin.
King of Destructionedit source
Where is your citation for this? I had a quick look for it and nothing came up. What have you been doing this for, it could be classed a vandelism and I have reverted all your edits if not I apologise but remember next time add citation. Thank You Bigshowbower 11:06, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- Please do not create a page for 'King of Destruction', this wiki is not for fan fiction or fan based creative works. If you wish to add information on fan fiction (or other such works) please use Doctor Who Fanon Wiki or Doctor Who Expanded. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 15:16, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
- Your recent adds to the list of New Series Adventures have been reverted due to the fact you are still adding fan fiction, please use the links Tangerineduel have pointed you to please. Thank You Bigshowbower 09:41, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Again your recent adds to the various articles have been deleted due to vandalism. This will be reported. Thank YouBigshowbower 09:42, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Warningedit source
This is a warning. Do not add further fanfic related information this is Vandalism. Further additions will lead to you being blocked from editing and adding content on this wiki. --Tangerineduel 13:53, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Fan ficedit source
Doctor Who Expanded and Doctor Who Fanon Wikis seem to cover the market adequately. Looking over The Doctor Who Expanded Wiki's statistics page they have more active users (users who have performed an action in the last 30 days). I would suggest that if you were looking for an active fan created content that would be the one to go for. Though the Doctor Who Fanon could also be one to go on as it is less developed and therefore you could be more active in its development into the wiki you think would benefit more people. If you don't want these options there's Fan Fiction Wiki, or alternatively post your fics on Fan Fiction.net. (Also in future be sure to leave messages on a user's talk page not their user page. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 07:13, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I am an admin on this wiki. --Tangerineduel 07:42, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Request for Adminshipedit source
I would be leaning towards no.
As you're a very recent user, posted fan fic (repeatedly) additionally there is nothing to base your editing ability and knowledge on. Typing speed doesn't directly mean you would potentially be a good admin. It might make you a good editor, but as I've said you don't have enough of an edit history to make an accurate decision on.
However. Looking at your recent edits; Monopoly was referring to something within the Doctor Who universe, therefore it needs to be written in the past tense (and in an encyclopaedic format) 'it is a fun game' is not something that should be on the page (unless you can prove it with an in-universe source). On images, you seem to have uploaded multiple versions of DWM 410, 409, 407, 406 none of them have the licensing (selected from the drop down licensing menu when you upload images), also there often exist previously uploaded versions of these images, Category:DWM covers has most of the DWM images uploaded thus far. If you make a mistake in uploading an image please put a proposed deletion which will put it in the proposed deltion category where it can be deleted. Thanks --Tangerineduel 08:18, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Short answer is no. Why exactly do you want to be something 'other'? Your editing still doesn't leave me with much confidence, again you have uploaded two versions of the cover of DWM397. --Tangerineduel 09:21, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think that you are currently administrator material (and leaving a message on all active user's talk page may constitute vandalism depending on how users view your messages). I have listed numerous reasons why I do not believe you are ready to be an administrator (spelling is another issue), also your recent article still do not conform to the manual of style Mexico City is written in present tense without correct formatting, wikilinking or categories.
- You are a very recent user and therefore I cannot gauge your editing ability, but what I have seen thus far has not been encouraging. --Tangerineduel 12:41, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi to answer your questions I am not an original user although i have been around for a while and since i myself am not an admin i cannot make you one. The only suggestion i can give you is to make lots of edits in sections that interest you on the wiki and create relationships with other users in the community. If you are dedicated enough and show the right qualities and are still interested in becoming an admin at that time i see no reason why you wouldn't be excepted as one. Tangerineduel has provided with things you need to do to become considered I suggest that doing these things would be a good place to start if you would like to be an admin. --Dark Lord Xander 01:04, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Messages on user's user pagesedit source
Please do not leave messages on a user's User page, or as you did you Stardizzy2's user page create their user page. This is Vandalism, this is a warning (please be aware this is the second time you have done this). --Tangerineduel 15:44, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
200 Golden Momentsedit source
I'm again quite perplexed why you uploaded another version of File:200 Golden Moments.jpg. What perplexes me is it was you who uploaded the previous version, additionally when you upload a file that is a duplicate of another on this site you get an 'Upload warning' informing you that you are uploading a file that is a duplicate (ie the same file under a different name) to the one you are uploading.
Also if you have created a page that you need deleted please place a proposed deletion (this will get faster attention than a problem report). --Tangerineduel 15:48, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Christmas cheeredit source
As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.
This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!
We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.
2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
