Welcome to the Tardis:About ThomasRWade

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

Please do not move pagesedit source

Hi, unfortunately, I had to undo your edits based on Jack's other name being revealed. I understand where you're coming from and why you thought it was the right thing to do.

I am to tell you, it was not, not yet at least. First of all, on this wiki, only admins should move pages for reasons explained in detail at Thread:128198, entitled Please don't move pages yourself. Ordinary users should use the speedy rename or rename templates instead.

Note that you only updated two links out of many links to Gray and to Franklin and that you could not avoid the redirects.

One of the main reasons why only admins are allowed to move pages is because such moves have to both comply with the policies and to not impede the searchability functionality of the wiki. For this reason, it is a good practice to first discuss such moves. Note that I did not put a "speedy rename", the clear-cut-nothing-to-talk-about version. This is because there are truly things to discuss.

As the most obvious hurdle that would have to be cleared before the rename can go on, let me ask you: how do we know that Jack signed up to the agency under his real name? Or that the agency used his real name in their files? Establishing that requires a closer textual analysis of the audios and other multiple stories than just saying "Gray's last name is Thane because his brother used Thane at some point in his life". We still don't have Thane applied to Jack during his life with his father and brother.

Secondly, it may affect the ability to search the page if its title is based on a name with several spellings possible. "Gray" we know from credits. Thane? Not Thain? Are we sure. Again, research is in order.

At any rate, please do not move pages in the future. Use the one of the rename templates instead. Amorkuz 19:56, June 18, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Gray Thane and Franklin Thaneedit source

There is a detailed explanation I provided to you personally right above this message at the time I did the move. If something is still unclear I'll be happy to explain.

On a completely separate note, I would also ask you to adhere to Tardis:Signature policy and sign your messages using ~~~~. It is simple to do and is completely indispensable when one returns to a month-old conversation. Amorkuz 12:06, June 23, 2017 (UTC)

The Twilight Streetsedit source

Ooh, I accidentally switched the order of these two rows. Thanks for correcting it. OncomingStorm12th 16:08, June 27, 2018 (UTC)

The HAVOC Files 4edit source

Hi, I added The Lost Skin based solely on the info on The HAVOC Files 4 page. --Borisashton 11:38, August 24, 2018 (UTC)

Margaret (Companion Piece)edit source

Hi, I undid your edit as you said because any mention of any future appearances she might have is against Tardis:Spoiler policy. I didn't notice that some of the info was actually implied from Companion Piece itself so I guess that can be readded in the bts section. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you by the way, I was distracted by other things. --Borisashton 12:19, September 14, 2019 (UTC)

The War Romanceedit source

I was online at the time of your post on Amorkuz's talk page so I was more than happy to help. Enjoy editing! It's nice to see someone else take an interest in the Lethbridge-Stewart series. :-) --Revan\Talk 17:14, October 2, 2019 (UTC)

Hi, sorry for getting back to you so late. Since my esteemed colleague above decided to intervene on my behalf, I thought that the matter was closed. However, upon a closer observation, I realised that neither your question was fully answered nor the move completed. Let me correct these omissions, with an apology for lateness.
Firstly, if in the future you see a page with a wrong title, the standard procedure is for you to add either the speedy rename or rename template to the top of the page. If you follow the links, you will find instructions how to use them. The speedy rename is for sure-thing cases, directly following by the policy or by the facts. A misnamed story falls into that category. In all other cases, you should use the rename template and explain on the talk page of the page to be renamed why you think the rename is necessary.
The purpose of using these templates is that the page is then added to the list of pages requiring maintenance, which you can find here and here respectively. This provides information to all admin about the rename being needed or suggested respectively. You can, of course, additionally leave a message to an admin you think is most likely to deal with the matter quickly. But by using the templates, you are covering all bases.
Finally, the speedy rename template asks a question, "Have all links to the old name been moved?" This is to make sure that eventually not only the page being moved gets the correct title, but also other pages are updated accordingly. Note that this is typically not what users should do, definitely not for the ordinary rename template. So my recommendation for now would be for you not to do anything about it but answer "no" while filling in the template. It is the job of the admin who moves the page to update all the necessary links.
For some reason, when performing the move, Revanvolatrelundar neglected to update the links to the page. I have corrected this omission. Now the move you requested is finally completed. Thank you for alerting the admin team about the issue. Amorkuz 07:24, October 21, 2019 (UTC)

Re: imagesedit source

Hi, please note that all images uploaded to this wiki must have a license. When you upload an image, the instruction box at the top of the page includes the message "Files must be appropriately licensed", and further down the dropdown box for licenses includes the message "You must choose the most appropriate image from this list."

Per Tardis:Image use policy, images without licenses are routinely deleted. When you upload the image again, please make sure to include a license. If you're not sure which license to use, check out a similar image to see which license it uses. Thanks Shambala108 02:28, October 4, 2019 (UTC)

No problem and if you have other questions, you can ask me or any other admin. Shambala108 05:00, October 4, 2019 (UTC)

Re:Lineageedit source

Hi I saw your edit summary at Lineage (anthology), and while I don't know a lot about adding extra series within infoboxes, I do have a suggestion. If you look at another story that has more than one series, that might help you figure out what you need to do for Lineage. For convenience, I suggest you take a look at the source code for Fragments (short story), that might help you. Thanks! Shambala108 23:02, October 25, 2019 (UTC)

T:WIKIFY OWN breachedit source

Hello! Thank you for your message.

If, as your summary of events leads me to believe, the editor under question clearly linked their public identity as a writer to their Wikia account, it would presumably not constitute doxxing for you to tell me what editor you're talking about. It would be very helpful, so that I can review the case myself; I'm not sure what you expect me to do here otherwise, is the thing.

Regardless, the real question here is whether they are currently still editing the Wiki. It is worth noting that most of T:WIKIFY OWN was only really codified around the summer of 2019, and wasn't made a standard policy page until much more recently still. Imposing sanctions on this editor for their 2019 edits would be unfair, as they were likely acting in ignorance, not in bad faith. But if they're still editing the Wiki then I'd quite like to be able to give them a direct link to T:WIKIFY OWN on their talk page… Scrooge MacDuck 01:57, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

Ugh. Yes, it would be doxxing. Keep alert for some way to privately contact this person off-Wiki and warn them about the policy but yeah, no, you can't tell me. Scrooge MacDuck 12:01, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
Don't worry, no time wasted! Just because policy doesn't currently allow us to take any action doesn't mean you weren't right to ask. Scrooge MacDuck 12:18, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

Re: Editing talk pagesedit source

As I informed User:Epsilon the Eternal on his talk page just now, you are correct that T:UVAN doesn't permit ordinary users to update links on other people's talk pages — just admins (and bots vetted by admins). Epsilon should, by best practices, have asked an admin to perform the link changes, or else asked you for permission. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

That being said, the link-update itself was warranted, so I'm going to reapply it myself. Scrooge MacDuck 16:39, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
