A Vortex parasite attacked the TARDIS while it was travelling through the Vortex. This caused an explosion that knocked out the Eighth Doctor and Izzy. The parasite began sucking the life out of the TARDIS. In defence, it created simulacra of the Doctor and Izzy in its memory banks. The parasite was killed, and the real Doctor and Izzy woke up, none the wiser. (COMIC: A Life of Matter and Death)
