"Wester Drumlins and the Smiling Hangman" was an urban legend about Wester Drumlins, a house in London reputed for strange occurrences. The tale dated from the 1940s and 1950s, when the house's history became less lucid due to World War II. Journalist Rani Chandra discounted the legend as having "dubious credentials", and she found no newspaper records or formal records to corroborate the story beyond the deaths of three sets of twins in the area when the story was said to have happened.
