Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The Ood are a species of telepathic humanoids native to the Ood Sphere. Their home planet is in the same system as the Sense Sphere, home of the Sensorites. They are part of the Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire.
- Translation devices enable them to talk to other species. The chord linked to the device was originally attached to secondary brain. The organ was sliced off by the humans when processing Oodkind for slavery.
- Oodkind are mentally connected by the powerful Ood Brain. Its influence can stretch across star systems. Ood Operations found the brain and prevented it communicating with Oodkind. The circle was broken.
- The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble helped free the Ood Brain, linking Oodkind and liberating them from slavery. The Ood now recognise them as friends.
- As a slave, Ood Sigma was the personal Ood of Klineman Halpen, manager of Ood Operations.
- Ood Sigma warned the Doctor that he would soon regenerate and later lent the Time Lord support in his hour of need, telling him "the song is ending, but the story never ends."
