Time on a Vine was a Brief Encounter short story published in the Doctor Who Yearbook 1992.
Summary
The Doctor rescues a young female executive on an alien planet.
Characters
References
- The Doctor appears to be travelling alone in this story.
- In the 22nd century, the company the woman advises makes a discovery that helps change the course of an interspecies war. Presumably, it is an agent of the losing side which snatches the woman from her own time and abandons her on the alien planet in an attempt to change this, although this is never specified.
Notes
- The events of this story take place over eighteen months, from the Doctor rescuing the woman to returning her to her own time.
- Mention is made of a former companion named "Teela", but this is probably a typographical error of the name "Leela".
Continuity
- The Doctor mentions Tegan as being one of his former companions. While this initially would seem to place it after Resurrection of the Daleks, the Doctor leaving in TV: Time-Flight could also be seen as her "leaving him," and the audio story Renaissance of the Daleks gives a gap where the Doctor is traveling alone after the brief departure of Nyssa.
- The Doctor also mentions Leela, Zoe, Romana, Nyssa, and Victoria.
