Revision as of 16:20, 7 July 2018

This topic might have a better name.

Amorkuz: I'm not sure where "The Audio Adventures" comes from. The standard nomenclature would be Class (audio series).
Danniesen: On the Big Finish site they gave it the name "Class: The Audio Adventures Volume One and Two".
Borisashton: I am aware of this. However that is the only place I can find that name in full (excluding the leaked announcement) which is why I suggested the current proposal would be a better name for the article.
0003c9fe: I agree with the rename suggestion. On the official pages of the series/sets it is titled Class, and the boxsets are Class Volume 1/2, hence the title should be Class (audio series), not Class: The Audio Adventures.
Borisashton: What are people's thoughts on the rename proposal now the covers have been released since they use "The Audio Adventures"?
OncomingStorm12th: As the covers use ": The Audio Adventures", I believe that so should we. Now, a technical question of about the creation of the page: does the use of two collons create any technical issues? (as the pages would be named "Class: The Audio Adventures: Volume One")

Talk about it here.

Careful . . . spoilers!

This page absolutely does contain spoilers either about the behind-the-scenes or narrative elements of stories which have not yet been published or broadcast. Please see our spoiler policy for our rules governing articles about such subjects.

Before editing this page, please read T:RUMOUR and T:OOU SRC. Fan sites, videos and blogs are not valid sources for this article. Also cast and crew announcements need to be handled in a particular way.

Please also remember to directly quote people, or to exactly characterise their statements. Do not say that someone said something when they really didn't. Work from original quotesnot a paraphrasing of them. When it comes to anything Russell T Davies, Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, another exec, or any major star of the show says, give their exact quote only. Remember, a part of the production team's job is to tell the truth, but only very narrowly. So this page should contain only what they exactly say.

Class: The Audio Adventures was a series of six stories centered around the Doctor Who spin-off Class. The stories were released in two box sets, each composed of three stories.

All six regular actors returned voicing their characters. The series also saw the return of Ace and the Daleks, after their previous visit to Coal Hill in 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks.[1]

While Up All Night wasn't used as the theme tune for the series, the stories contained the Class themem which played over the closing credits.[2]

Notes

  • Both volumes were first announced in DWM 526; individuals whose copies arrived early leaked the news to social media. That same day, Greg Austin posted on his Twitter about working with Big Finish. Indeed, as the news broke, the series did not yet have a page on the Big Finish website.[3][4]
  • Scott Handcock was approached by Nicholas Briggs about making audio stories for Class around the time the first series premiered, as he had gotten a licence for it. However, due to scheduling and developing of the storylines, it took a while for the stories to actually go through and get recorded.[5]
  • Because the licence was gotten early (before the show's cancellation), the audio stories couldn't develop the cliffhanger of the first series' final episode, as they might create a conflict with a potential second series, which never came to be. Thus, all six stories being developed needed to take place within the events of the show's first series.[5]
  • Patrick Ness was involved with the storyline and scripts of the audio series.[5][6]
  • The physical copies of Volume One and Volume Two have a slightly wider cover than the digital version, so that the illustrations form a single image when put side-by-side[7]
