A short informational film demonstrating the duck and cover method was created by the United States government in 1962 in response to potential nuclear war as a result of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and was shown to a class at Brideport Elementary School.
The monochrome film depicted two examples of how to employ the method; with a family on a picnic taking cover under their picnic blanket, and of a couple identified as "Paul and Mary" ducking to the ground while on their way to school. (COMIC: The Piggybackers)
