Annuals
* The Making of Doctor Who (Partially, at least in the first edition? These two sections are probably narrative anyway. I'm fairly certain if this was published standalone, it would be valid. And we'd have to say the Doctor's real name is ∂³Σx².)
** The Trial of Doctor Who
** The Travels of Doctor Who (I am not sure if these should be considered one story. They are listed separately in the table of contents, but are treated as the same thing.)
* The Monsters
* Doctor Who: Cybermen
** Archive: A History of the Cyber Race (probably narrative)
* Dalek Survival Guide (also reprints features from Dalek annuals)
* The Secrets of the Tardis
* The Brilliant Book 2011
** Around Leadworth (currently called a short story, but I can definitely say it's non-narrative and this is wrong.)
** The Raggedy Doctor
** Welcome to Starship UK
** The Calvierri Academy
** The Lodger's Who's Who
** The Wedding of Amelia Pond and Rory Williams
** Do the Drunk Giraffe (...not sure exactly how this fits.)
* The Brilliant Book 2012
** TBA
* The Official Doctionary (possibly narrative?)
* The Doctor: His Lives and Times (partially, see below)
* The Secret Lives of Monsters (possibly narrative?)
* TARDIS Type 40 Instruction Manual (arguably narrative)
* The Monster Vault (presented by the Doctor as info from the TARDIS data banks, only real world info is a header for each monster saying their creator and appearances)

Doctor Who Annuals
* Doctor Who Annual 1968
* Doctor Who Annual 1968
** Test from Tardis (A strange case— it's a crossword puzzle, but it says the Doctor created it for himself and the companions, and includes in-universe clues, not unlike the puzzles in contemporary annuals... I'm at least listing it.)

** Note: I just discovered it actually adds on to them, in particular The Dalek Dictionary... also has an introduction and "interview" with Terry Nation, but he and the interviewer speak as if they live in the DWU (e.g. Nation found and translated texts from Skaro, "our galaxy", "you may meet a Dalek", etc.)

While the ones that don't could ostensibly be in-universe, the writing style (e.g. "when we first encountered the enigmatic character of the Doctor") which is still consistent leads me to believe they're not intended to be fiction.)

Revision as of 21:52, 3 March 2021

In-universe but non-narrative fiction, as discussed at Thread:282038. Although this is my own sandbox, feel free to help complete the list or rectify any errors. I do not own many of these books/sources and have had to gather information from their wiki pages, previews, summaries, reviews, and online listings, so there may be mistakes.

I have listed the following categories:

 • Presented as in-universe material, where the material is portrayed as actually existing within the DWU;
 • In-universe perspective, where there is an omniscient "narrator" stating things as fact, but not an actual narrative;
 • In-universe perspective but cites sources, same as above but facts are attributed to the story they originate from;
 • Unsure, where either the interpretation as to which above category the material should belong to is contentious, or where I know the material exists but have not yet seen enough of it to discern which category it belongs in.

Additional note: Some "features", as labelled in the annuals, are actually narrative, and so are not listed here. (e.g. Problem of the Painted Planet)
