Rako was a Bosun on a prison ship which contained Nustanu. He showed the Fifth Doctor the way to the bridge so that he could pilot it safely to the surface. He helped to transport the Doctor when he became paralysed. He became paranoid and raged about his plight when a set of bats attacked. He didn't like what his commander Orna had become and activated a bomb to stop her and their people from learning the secret on Rastana. (AUDIO: Devil in the Mist)
