Aladdin

Aladdin, or Ala-eddin, (TV: Marco Polo) was the title character in a popular fairy tale which was often adapted into pantomime. The story featured a lamp and a magic cave.

Behind the scenes

• On 24 December 1974, Terry Walsh appeared as the Third Doctor in a BBC pantomime production of Aladdin from the Crackerjack team, in which the Doctor used the TARDIS to help Aladdin escape from a cave.
• "A Whole New World" is a song featured in Disney's 1992 animated adaptation of the story.
  • The film received a live-action remake in 2019 in which Nina Wadia appeared.
