Professor Candy, who signed his name as Arthur Candy while stuck in 1996 Birmingham (PROSE: Afterwords) but whose business card in his native time read Artrem Candy (GAME: The Eternity Clock) was a history researcher on the faculty of Luna University's archaeology department. Much of his research centred on the Doctor. (PROSE: Continuity Errors)

One account suggested that there were actually multiple, identical Professor Candys, comprising a family of successive clones all sharing academic credit for a single lengthy body of work, known as the Generational Professorial Clone Family of Candy. (PROSE: Big Bang Generation)

History

In 2593, Professor Candy accompanied Bernice Summerfield to a dig on Perfecton, where he experienced the attack of the Grel. After a Perfecton hit their spaceship Winton, he found himself in Pantoland in the persona of Dame Candy. She delighted in creating puns on what she saw, such as using fish related dialogue when she met the Grel. She was the mother of Young Jack from the village. (AUDIO: Oh No It Isn't)

Studying the Doctor's place in human history, Candy concluded that the Doctor had a generally negative and dangerous effect on history. His attempt to give a lecture to this effect in 2643 was pre-empted by the Doctor, (PROSE: Continuity Errors) who carried him back in time and left him in Birmingham in 1996. (PROSE: Afterword)

River Song found a business card with his name on it tucked into her diary the day after she was admitted to the hospital in the 52nd century, under the care of the Sisters of the Infinite Schism. The card stated that Professor Candy was part of Luna University's Department of Antiquities. (GAME: The Eternity Clock)

In 5123, Professor Candy conducted River Song's graduate admissions interview. In response to his query as to her motivation to study archaeology, she cryptically answered that she was "looking for a good man". (TV: Let's Kill Hitler)

The Tenth Doctor contacted Professor Candy to find out more about a missing Zygon Under Wave hive, which, as the Doctor told River, Candy knew all about. (PROSE: The Day of the Doctor)

Appearance

Professor Candy was chubby and jolly. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)
