- 13 January - An agreement regarding the 1996 tele-movie was finally made. Philip Segal, who then gained control of the show, was to get a new series ready to pitch to the American networks.

- 24 August - Writer John Leekley submitted the first draft of his script for the 1996 TV movie, based on his revised 27 July storyline. The most noticeable change from his last submission was a new cliffhanger involving a confrontation between Davros and the Daleks and the Doctor and Lizzie Travis. He submitted a fuller script on 8 September.

- 7 October - Writer Robert deLaurentis submitted the first draft of his version of the storyline for the 1996 TV movie, adapted from John Leekley's 24 August script. In this new adaptation, the Doctor finds out that his father is involved in a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, and meets up with him a half a century later. He completed a draft script based on this storyline on 17 December.
