Trystan "Trys" Thomas was an expectant father, and husband to Sarah Thomas, who became "infected" by a quartet of "zombies" while taking his wife to the hospital.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

When his wife went into labour in the late 2000s, Trys rang midwife Rianne Kilkenny to attend the birth, hoping to meet her at St Helen's Hospital.

While driving Sarah to the hospital in their Passat, Trys felt duty-bound to stop for a quartet of figures crouched over a body in the road. Leaving the car to help, against the wishes of his wife, Trys was attacked by the group.

In an effort to escape, Trys managed to slightly open the door of the car, but only succeeded in alerting the zombies to his wife's presence. He was pushed aside and lay in the gutter as his wife screamed his name.

Arriving at the scene a short time later, Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones found Trys lying in the gutter and his wife trapped in the car. After neutralising the zombies, Ianto examined Trys and found that his back was covered in deep scratches and bite marks - though there was no sign of infection, he was breathing normally and his heart rate was strong. He hauled Trystan, and helped Sarah, into the back of the SUV. The pair were taken back to the Torchwood Hub, where Trystan was left to rest in the Hothouse.

Trys arose from his restful state in the Hothouse and made his way, swaying slightly, to the central area of the Torchwood Hub. When Jack shouted to him, he did not reply. He instead shuffled to the steps and clanged down them one at a time. Zombified, Trys lunged at Jack. Jack dodged him, and Ianto helped subdue Trys and handcuff him to one of the Hub's support stanchions.

The transferred Trys into the interrogation chair and analysed both his life signs and any abnormal changed in his biology. Despite appearing zombified, they discovered that Trys' life signs were strong and that there was no sign of infection at all. Jack surmised that when Trys was attacked, the zombies passed on a thought-virus to him - a form of hypnotic suggestion.

Ianto moved Trys into the holding cells and lied to his wife that he was sleeping off his injuries. Trys stared at the transparent wall and would occasionally blunder into it.

Trys later awoke in the cells, unaware of how he'd got there. He noticed a mobile phone propped up against the transparent cell wall with a post-it note attached: "Press 1". Trys pressed 1 and Ianto Jones answered. Ianto told him he was safe and that they were coming to let him out. He asked about Sarah and the baby, to which Ianto replied that they were fine. "You're a dad, Mr Thomas. Congratulations". (PROSE: Bay of the Dead)
