The Beverly Hillbillies was an American television sitcom created by Paul Henning. The Beverly Hillbillies was also spun off into comics which were published in Lady Penelope alongside several comics featuring DWU elements. The original televised run of the series spanned from 1962 to 1971.
Crossovers with the DWU
TV Century 21 was a real-world comic publication defined by its connections to the works of Century 21 Productions. The magazine was presented as being perpetually in-universe as if it were a newspaper. Since The Daleks was printed in the comic, it was common for short stories to depict characters from shows like Thunderbirds acknowledging the Daleks as existing in-universe, creating Doctor Who's first legitimate crossover.
In 1966, Lady Penelope received her own spin-off publication, also presented as an in-universe magazine and often discussed in TV 21. For 13 months, her magazine featured a one-page weekly comic based on The Beverly Hillbillies. As it was with The Daleks, these comics were presented as taking place in the same universe as Lady Penelope's writings.
The only narrative covered by this wiki to reference this is the TV Century 21 cover story Time Barrier Busted, which briefly mentioned Penelope's plans to investigate "Beverly Hillbillies".
Cast and crew connections
Several episodes of the colour seasons of the show were filmed in the United Kingdom due to the popularity of the show overseas, leading to fringe connections between the shows.
In season 6, episode 3, Clampett Castle, Norman Claridge appears as Jenkins.
In season 7, episode 2, Something for the Queen, Brian Peck appears as a chauffeur. In season 7 episode 3, War of the Roses, Sydney Arnold appears as Dumbarton's retainer. In both episodes, Donald Bisset appears as Tetly.
In season 7 episode 4, Coming Through the Rye, Ilona Rodgers appears as Sandra MacGregor. Additionally, Brian Peck returns as the chauffeur and Dave Prowse appears as a Scotsman.
