Target Selected was the first story in the Four Hours of Doom's Day comic anthology publication released with issue 592 of Doctor Who Magazine. It was released in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who.
It was the second overall story in the Doom's Day multimedia series.
Publisher’s summary
Doom’s last day in the Universe kicks off at a maximum security prison … where she runs into someone who may just know the whereabouts of the Doctor.
Plot
Doom is sitting in a dark cell room in Stormcage Containment Facility, chatting with River Song about how to best track down the Doctor and their shared life-styles as assassins, the only light source coming from Doom's Monocle acting as a flash-light.
River suggests Doom take the mission at New Calamino, in which there is a Waxworks Museum, as the Doctor is one of the exhibits there.
Doom thanks River, and as Death slowly approaches, the vortex manipulator goes off, and she hops off to the next location.

Notes
- This story takes place across Hour 0200.
- This is the first DWM strip of any kind to feature River Song, and the second overall to feature an incarnation of Melody Pond, with Mels Zucker having previously appeared in Imaginary Enemies.
- The weapon that Doom is brandishing in the cover of the Doctor Who Magazine supplement Four Hours of Doom's Day, appears to resemble a sonic blaster similar to the one owned by Jack Harkness. However, no such blaster appears in this or any of the other three stories within. The same gun seemingly makes a reappearance on the comic-style cover of DD 1, the first issue of A Doctor in the House?.
Continuity
- River says that Doom is a cold-blooded killer "too", alluding to her past crime of killing the Doctor. (TV: The Impossible Astronaut, The Wedding of River Song)
