Behind the scenes
Roker Park was the home stadium for Sunderland A.F.C from 1898 to 1997. In 1998, the stadium was demolished, with the former site now being occupied by a housing estate. Sunderland's home stadium since 1997 has been the much larger Stadium of Light.
