Indestructible was a short story printed in TV Century 21 that contained elements from the Doctor Who universe. Framed as the front page of an in-universe periodical, the titular article made reference to the Captain Scarlet comic story We Will Destroy Unity City, which was a crossover with the DWU.
Summary
Prompted into action by the Mysterons' threat to destroy Unity City, Colonel White orders the Angel Flight to move in. However, one of the Angel aircraft undergoes Mysteronisation. Soon afterwards, this Angel craft is witnessed by Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue while on patrol, heading straight for Cloudbase. Scarlet chooses to immediately eject Blue from their own craft and, still aboard, destroys the Angel craft by ramming it. It is not long before medical reports confirm once again that Captain Scarlet is indestructible.
Elsewhere, reports rapidly come in from TV 21's Persian Information Bureau regarding International Rescue's attempts to combat a recent earthquake. According to the latest report received at the time of going to press, the Thunderbirds team are investigating the possibility that the earthquake was not a naturally-occurring one. It further continues that Thunderbird 1 and Thunderbird 2 have taken off for an unknown destination in the heart of the Persian desert, chasing a lead on the situation, following discussions with the local police department.
Characters
Worldbuilding
- Captain Scarlet prevents the destruction of Cloudbase in "20 seconds of skill and daring".
- Captains Scarlet and Blue are described as "the heroes of the recent mid-sky drama" to sabotage Cloudbase.
- Unity City is the "centre of the modern world".
- TV 21 confirmed the Mysteronisation of the Angel aircraft "early this morning".
Story notes
- This story is another crossover with Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons and Thunderbirds.
- Notably, this story styles the name of Captain Scarlet's organisation in full capitals, as "SPECTRUM". "Spectrum" was the more common spelling and became almost-universally accepted as TV21 went on.
Continuity
- Rumours that the Mysterons had taken control of an Angel aircraft had circulated in the previous week. Captain Scarlet was stated to be the "only hope" for Earth if this was true. (COMIC: We Will Destroy Unity City, PROSE: Captain Scarlet Our Only Hope)
