Going to suggestion/propose changing this title's name from Hex to Thomas Hector Schofield (and maintaining a redirect from Hex to...), not saying we should do it immediately, but would like a for/against on this.

Page title name changeedit source

Going to suggestion/propose changing this title's name from Hex to Thomas Hector Schofield (and maintaining a redirect from Hex to...), not saying we should do it immediately, but would like a for/against on this. Okay, he is called Hex, but it is established that his name is Schofield...any thoughts? --Tangerineduel 15:12, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Ace is at Ace so why wouldn't Hex be at Hex? :) --Cartoonmoney 12:07, November 15, 2009 (UTC)
It's been a good many years but I agree that this page should be moved to "Thomas Hector Schofield", just as Melanie Bush isn't at "Mel" and Yasmin Khan isn't at "Yaz". -- Saxon (✉️) 08:30, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
By than logic, Ace should be at Dorothy Gale McShane? Hex is always credited and referred to as Hex apart from in his last 4 appearances in his original run, like Ace is. Yaz is always credited as Yazmin Khan. Adric♥NyssaTalk? 16:15, September 12, 2020 (UTC)
For the record, it is my understanding that we principally call Ace "Ace" because of T:NPOV issues. In production documents and Target novelisations, she wasn't Dorothy McShane, she was Dorothy Gale; "McShane" is a relatively late retcon. If we wanted to use her legal name we'd have to make an awkward choice between these two competing names.
Additionally, considering her difficult relationship with Perivale and whatnot, the argument is fairly made that Ace basically rejects her birth family — in much the same way that the Master is not Koschei and the Rani is not Ushas. The way in which she refuses to give her name in Dragonfire as anything other than "Ace"; is very reminiscent of the Doctor and other Renegade Time Lords' refusal to give anything but their "the" name.
As concerns Hex… at worst I think we ought to name his page Hex Schofield. It's clear that "Thomas" is not his most regularly-used first name. But his name is clearly supposed to echo Ace's, so I can see the common-sense argument for keeping him at "Hex". Thoughts, anyone else? Scrooge MacDuck 11:35, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Let’s open this debate again, with The Last Day 1 having released and the crediting being at "Hex Schofield". Danniesen 09:56, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
