"Venusian" was both a demonym and a species name.  It described both the sentient species which first arose on the planet Venus, as well as those humans who were natives of the planet.

A Venusian was an inhabitant of the planet Venus.

Native Venusians[[edit] | [edit source]]

There were at least two species of intelligent natives from Venus. One was simply known as the Venusians. (PROSE: Venusian Lullaby) The other was known as the Thraskin or Cytherians. (AUDIO: Voyage to Venus) Both lived early in Venus' history.

The animal life of Venus was also referred to as Venusian, such as the Venusian Shanghorn. (TV: The Green Death, PROSE: The War of Art, AUDIO: Voyage to Venus)

The Mekon and a platoon of green humanoids, who appeared to be members of his own kind. (COMIC: Comic Relief Comic)

Additionally, according to the stories in the 20th century British children's comic Eagle which concerned the adventures of Dan Dare, his enemy the Mekon, (PROSE: Time and Relative) who crossed paths with the Doctor on at least two occasions, (COMIC: Party Animals, Comic Relief Comic) was a Venusian.

Human Venusians[[edit] | [edit source]]

Humans who colonised Venus were known as Venusians. These Venusians were known for their resistance to Dalek occupation. (PROSE: The Dalek Book)

Many millions of years later, another group of humans came to the Sol system. They had forgotten their own origin of Earth and instead colonised Venus, calling themselves Venusians. (AUDIO: Voyage to Venus)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Dalek Handbook acknowledges the Daleks' war against the Venusians, referring to the Dalek invasion of Venus.
