The Brief Encounter short story published in DWM 184 was untitled. It has, however, been given the title Duggan by the Doctor Who Reference Guide.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Duggan meets the Seventh Doctor and Ace one rainy night in London, where he is now working as a private detective. They ask him for money for the Tube so they can reunite with the TARDIS, which has been taken away. He is bewildered that this man he has never seen before recognises him from Paris, and doesn't believe it is the same Doctor he knew. However, Duggan is eventually persuaded to lend the pair the Tube fare back to the TARDIS, but still misses the man he's been hired to follow.
