History

The Monan Host Spacecraft, the Moros was sabotaged by Gaal, who planted a computer virus in the computer that caused it to kill its crew and begin a core meltdown, while the Moros was at its closest point to Gallifrey. The incumbent President, Romana II was sent on a mission to save the ship's engines; though she wanted to go alone, Leela secretly followed her.

Romana tricked Leela to leave the Moros and go to Legion while Romana regenerated to create the energy needed to prevent the core from collapsing. This incident was later identified by Romana III as a turning point towards the later outbreak of the war, which is stated by Braxiatel to have involved tensions between the Temporal Powers and agreements being reneged upon. (AUDIO: Enemy Lines [+]Loading...["Enemy Lines (audio story)"])

During her final term in office, Romana III had to deal with an anomaly near Earth, created using the Hand of Omega. A secret society, known as the Adherents of Ohm, were trying to gain power on Gallifrey, and she suspected that Narvin might be part of it. There was an attempt to assassinate her though Tauras managed to save her. She travelled through a black hole after Narvin tracked Ace there and found out that Tauras had set Omega free from the anti-matter universe. She tried to travel back into her own universe again but was stuck in the black hole as the type 160 TARDIS she was using ran out of power. She accepted that she along with Narvin and Ace wouldn't see Gallifrey again. (AUDIO: Intervention Earth [+]Loading...["Intervention Earth (audio story)"])

Irving Braxiatel rescued Romana from the type 160 TARDIS and they went after Omega. (AUDIO: Enemy Lines [+]Loading...["Enemy Lines (audio story)"])

After Omega returned, war devastated Gallifrey. (AUDIO: Enemy Lines) As Gallifrey faced its "darkest hour", Romana began to clear sections of the planet in order to make room to build Battle TARDISes. She personally attended the decommissioning of Quadrigger Stoyn's workstation. (AUDIO: Luna Romana [+]Loading...["Luna Romana (audio story)"])

Still in their TARDIS, Narvin and Ace were surrounded and found guilty of high treason by the High Council. They were executed by the use of time torpedoes. (AUDIO: Enemy Lines [+]Loading...["Enemy Lines (audio story)"])

A projection of Romana III from much later in her life would claim to be the last of her kind. (AUDIO: Renaissance [+]Loading...["Renaissance (audio story)"])

The High Council also found Romana guilty of starting a war with Omega. Romana, however, was saved by Braxiatel's intervention.

To avert the conflict, which had devastated Gallifrey, Romana sent Irving Braxiatel back in time to stop her previous self from regenerating on-board the Moros. Discovering this, Romana II stepped down from the Presidency to ensure that that future would not take hold. (AUDIO: Enemy Lines [+]Loading...["Enemy Lines (audio story)"])
