Publisher's summary

Finally reaching the head of the ship, Vienna and Passion find themselves exactly where the Master wants them. The Time Lord has more than revenge on his mind, however, and if they can't stop him, nothing in the universe will.

Plot

The Master gets the Kairos computer to scan him and learns that he has to leave the Time Vortex as soon as possible due to his molecular cohesion being critical, but he has a plan which will ensure his rebirth. Evading the Sparks as they near the front of the ship, Vienna and Passion reach the next seg only to be attacked by Kryle and detained by the Master. The Master puts Passion under mild hypnosis and shows Vienna the flight deck where he explains that he intends to steal her body after exploiting Passion, whom he takes to the vortex drive's reactor in the engine room. The ship's steering mechanism is inside a chamber flooded with radiation incapable of harming a Triangulum like herself.

Hypnotising Passion with the Heart of Tiamat, the Master has her increase the ship's speed to maximum and send it on a collision course to Earth whilst Kryle hunts Vienna, whom he realises has stolen his keys. Vienna defeats him in a fight, steals his gun and reaches the engine room where she threatens the Master into releasing Passion from the chamber in which he has left her trapped to die in the imminent crash. He attacks her until she points out that he intends to hijack her body, at which point he explains that she will be alive and conscious once he has stolen her body just as his current host is. She then threatens to flood the deck with radiation to kill them both, forcing the Master to give her the code to release Passion.
