The Fifth Doctor, Peri Brown and Erimem materialised nearby, and ended up in the centre of the conflict. Vlad took Erimem with him to his palace, while the Doctor stayed with the Turkish rebels. Peri, meanwhile, was to be executed for trespassing on Dracula's land. She was saved from this fate at the last moment by the Doctor, and both were captured by Vlad.
