The Death of Hope was the first story in the audio anthology Dark Eyes 3, produced by Big Finish Productions. It was written by Matt Fitton and featured Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor and Ruth Bradley as Molly O'Sullivan.

Heron's World, Colony Ro 351. A defeated, desolate backwater world, a human settlement chewed up and spat out by the Eminence war.

Now the survivors may face an even greater threat than the Infinite Armies that surround them. Because a man has appeared from nowhere and claims to offer salvation. A man with a magic travelling box, and a dark-eyed assistant named Molly O'Sullivan.

Much more hangs on the fate of Hope Gardner than anyone around her knows. Because the Doctor is watching...

  • CD Booklet interior illustration of the Master, Molly, and Sally.
    This is the only instalment of Dark Eyes in which the Doctor has no companion. Even though Molly appears, the Doctor does not interact with her or any other character other than Narvin. Additionally, the Doctor makes a significantly reduced appearance in this, similar to the "Doctor-lite" stories occasionally produced by BBC Wales, although not for the same production reason.
