Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • In the real world, John Pope is properly known as John Paul II; Nothing O'Clock [+]Loading...["Nothing O'Clock (short story)"] refers to him as "Pope John Paul", The Dying Days [+]Loading...["The Dying Days (novel)"] and The Assassin's Story [+]Loading...["The Assassin's Story (short story)"] refers to him as "the Pope" and Have You Seen This Man? [+]Loading...["Have You Seen This Man? (short story)"] indirectly mentions him through his funeral.
  • Coincidentally, two of the four references to John Paull II of his mortality, his attempted assassination and his funeral.
  • The Eighth Doctor novel History 101 [+]Loading...["History 101 (novel)"] heavily implies that Jueves, an agent of Sabbath Dei, was behind the 1981 assassination attempt. The inconsistent 1980 was deliberate on Mags L. Halliday's part, as she wanted to create differences between the real world and the Doctor Who universe, in the same way BBC3 begun broadcasting in the 1970s in the DWU, unlike 2003 in the real world.[1]
