The Scarecrow was a Doctor Who Adventures comic story featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Inside an atmosphere bubble on the other side of the universe is Major Luisa Suarez. In the darkness she is supplied with food, drink and clean clothes by her captors. During the lights on she is left alone, not knowing how she arrived or why she is there. One day the Doctor and Amy Pond also arrive with the same questions. They were exploring a planet before darkness suddenly fell.

The Doctor however recognises the well known landmark outside as the Wormhole of Calibri — site of one of the nastiest and shortest wars in galactic history. The Tulokon, having destroyed their own planet, used the wormhole to attack the planet Hazri. The Hazrians barely defeated them. Working out that whoever was holding them captive wanted to keep them alive, the Doctor sabotages the life support system.

As the Doctor expects, the bubble is plunged into darkness. Using only a match for light — his sonic screwdriver has been taken away — they see the reptilian face of their captor — a Hazrian. However, instead of being a fearsome creature, the Hazrian is more afraid of its captives than the other way around.

The humans are the most fearsome looking creatures that the Hazrians have ever seen and are being kept to scare away any Tulokons that dare to cross the wormhole and attack again. The Doctor persuades the Hazrian that the Tulokons are long gone and no longer pose a threat. It agrees to fetch the Doctor's TARDIS and return Luisa to Earth. To set the Hazrians' minds at rest the Doctor rigs up a look-a-like scarecrow.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • The DWA comic strip adventures were aimed at a younger audience and the artwork and colours were bold and bright, reflecting the tone of the magazine.
  • Self contained, one part stories were the norm.
