Involvement in the '90' project[[edit] | [edit source]]
Issue 243 of TV Century 21 reported that World Intelligence Network chief Shane Weston had confirmed that the top secret publication Joe 90 would not be merging with TV21. After being challenged that the '90' project had involved "the son of a British scientist", Shane refused to comment. An image of Joe accompanied this piece on the cover of TV21. As an agent of the World Intelligence Network[[edit] | [edit source]]
Joe completed his objective during a dangerous mission in Bereznik, however while en route to the rendezvous and extraction point, his helijet suffered an explosion. A21 reporter Andy Clems speculated that agent 90 could have been sent to destroy a facility in Bereznik which had caused concern with the World Council in Unity City; although the facility was destroyed by a fire, Clems speculated that if 90 had been sent to do this, his actions had clearly been uncovered, with his escape foiled by an explosive device aboard his helijet. WIN agent 'Uncle Sam' was investigating the explosion and coordinating search efforts in the area, reportedly having stated "If anyone could have survived something like that, it’s Joe 90.". These events were reported on by Andy Clems in A21. (PROSE: Joe 90 Missing! [+]Loading...["Joe 90 Missing! (short story)"])
Joe 90 survived, having ejected from his helijet moments before it was totally destroyed. He proceeded to make his way through the desert on foot to Spectreville, the nearest settlement to his location. Upon arrival, 90 overheard two individuals having a conversation, after which he followed them to a barn on the outskirts of Spectreville, where he discovered a "huge shipment" of the latest automatic assault weapons - however, 90 was seen while attempting to escape.
A firefight ensued, with 90 sustaining some minor injuries. During this, a crate of explosives was struck, and exploded, destroying the cache of weapons. 90 then made contact with WIN HQ, after which a rescue party arrived within the following hour. This was reported on again by Andy Clems for A21, who stated that 90 was unavailable for further comment, but that those at A21 wished him congratulations on his safe return, noting that they hoped that his future career in the WIN would be bright.
