Aukon was originally Science Officer Anthony O'Connor of the Hydrax before serving the King Vampire as one of Three Who Rule.

The Three Who Ruled kept the population of the planet in thrall for a thousand years. Aukon was able to control a flock of bats into doing his bidding. He sent the to attack the Doctor and Romana. Aukon wanted to sacrifice Romana and initiate Adric as a vampire at the time of arising. Aukon and the others died when the Doctor launched one of the scout ships into the heart of the Great Vampire.
