It doesn't belong in the main article space, though, because it's pure fan speculation. Moved from main article space
The following was moved from the main article space to the Howling in an effort to preserve the original editor's fairly extensive work. It doesn't belong in the main article space, though, because it's pure fan speculation. There's no way to write about disputed companions from an in-universe perspective, because it's only the fans who dispute the companions; the characters themselves don't go around wondering if they're a companion of the Doctor. There are several characters whose status as a companion is disputed, even if they have been recognized by official sources. Fans have often argued for the exclusion of characters for several reasons, including lack of travel time in the TARDIS, lack of an invitation to adventure with the Doctor, appearances in only one adventure, etc.
