He was killed by the [[Vashta Nerada]], although his consciousness survived for a brief time after as a [[Data Ghost]]. Afterward, Vashta Nerada animated his skeleton and he became the [[Suit Creature]], which continued to utter Dave's final words ("Hey, who turned out the lights?") as a data ghost, which had fallen into a repeating loop. With Strackman Lux, Other Dave, River Song, Anita and Miss Evangelista, he went to the Library to discover why more than four thousand people had vanished there leaving a message a century earlier. He was killed by the Vashta Nerada, although his consciousness survived for a brief time as a data ghost.

Afterward, the Vashta Nerada animated his skeleton inside the suit. His data ghost continued to utter Dave's final words, "Hey, who turned out the lights?" in an infinite loop.
